(Yahoo)   Runners decide that instead of respecting the NYC marathon being cancelled they'll run anyway because spreading out and strapping food to themselves makes it all better. In other news, today is "Mug a runner day" in NYC   (news.yahoo.com) divider line 7

dumbobruni: Jenna Tellya: I think there are a lot more productive things runners could be doing rather. Sure, you came to the city to run and you're disappointed you didn't get to do your marathon, and by all means run if you want to, but don't act like you're helping when you're choosing to run instead. Charity events are supposed to be about doing things you wouldn't normally do, and you're supposed to be motivated to do that thing because you want to help the charity, not because your year was just ruined and you need to run a race to make your nightmare trip worthwhile.

I went to the Oakwood Beach cleanup this morning, and 3 to 4 dozen runners showed up. They ran all the way from the ferry (about 8 miles) to the cleanup site with bags full of donations (blankets, food, batteries), picked up shovels and garbage bags, and went to work.

And what did you do this morning, may I ask?

You mean besides sitting on his ass and posting on Fark?
