Jim Cramer: the perfect emblem of the river-of-shiat non-entertainment TV world that is 21st century America.

Jim Cramer is the William Kristol of the stock market.

Yup. Him claiming it's in the bag for Obama scares me a lot. Hopefully he's just wrong about the size of Obama's victory and not whether or not Obama will win.

Cramer got loose? Bring in the Stewart Unit. Cramer'll be toast. Book it Done.

czetie: Ah, crap. Cramer is the man who recommended Lehman as a "screaming buy" shortly before it went bankrupt. And that was one of his better picks.

One of the few good ways for an amateur to make fast money in the market is to short whatever Cramer is recommending. Wait for a couple of days for the dumb money that follows his show to bid it up, then bail.

Short a stock, wait for it to get bid up, then cover? That doesn't sound like a very good way to make money. Or, do you mean, wait a few days for it to get bid up, then short?

Subtle Correction: This is the guy who got his butt handed to him by a comedian, right?

You shouldn't stay in the public eye after something like that. Go learn to be a nail technician or something.

In any rational world, he would be a lock attendant on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, and only allowed to open his mouth at feeding time. He is a perfect example of the modern disconnect between "success" and "merit".

Obama will likely win the election but it will be much closer than 440 to 98...lol

Why does anyone give a fark what this snake oil barker thinks? He doesn't do financial news, he does entertainment.

Seriously, hasn't he already discredited himself as more, less a fraud.

I think 440 might be his blood pressure in PSI, and this whole thing is just a misunderstanding.

Then again, he's been proving himself clueless since before the tech bubble crash. Seriously, am I the only one who remembers how completely idiotic "Kudlow and Kramer" was back then? Or how Stewart completely shredded him because it never occurred to Kramer his past interviews could be used against him? How does this twit get any attention? He's not even funny enough to be comic relief for stoned people.

Cheers.

440 to 98, huh? I'm surprised he even got it to add up to 538.

Business Insider, on the other hand, didn't. Read the story carefully.

Also, you might think the comments on that site would be at least partially intelligent. They aren't. The internet is a derpfest.

Wow. Jim Cramer being a bombastic and flashy attention whore? But then, Business Insider is also publishing the guesses of a politics editor, a horse-racing columnist, and a political reporter as if they carry some weight. How about a real statistician predicting Obama:332, Romney :206.

Maybe he was just being funny. Or trying to balance out things liked unskewed polls.

Meh either way, he's wrong, and should be laughed at.

riverwalk barfly: Well, he is obviously full of shiat. But the idea of TX going blue makes me smile. Then reality....*sigh* - I do recall in early 2008 a caller on NPR saying that if Obama got the nomination, North Carolina would vote blue. The panel (Diane Rehm show) laughed it off as impossible. You never know.

North Carolina is substantially more likely to go blue than Texas. Texas' demographics may lead to it going blue eventually, but not in 2012. This is a state that elects Rick Perry.

eddiesocket: Huh. I guess the left has some crazies, too. Or maybe it was a typo and he meant 340? Even that's a bit OTT, but at least it's not insane.

Actually that's only ten more electoral votes than the single most likely occurring outcome by Silver's metrics. So it's improbable but not highly so.
