And this is why they are still looking for a few good men

Well, being pissed off because he thought the guy was being "paralyzed veteran for Halloween" is appropriate. But a good Marine doesn't beat the crap out of anyone because he's pissed off. He has very poor military discipline.

From the other story calbert linked:

Lemoine said Dabney, who was wearing a pink tutu for Halloween, began calling Priotti a fake and then assaulted him. "He was out cold. He was not responsive for at least 10 seconds. His eyes were wide open, staring at the ceiling out cold," Lemoine said. "It was really sad. I couldn't fall asleep. I felt anger." Lemoine said that a Pita Pit employee jumped over the counter to try to stop the action. Priotti told The Sun he served in the Army from 1996-98 and was paralyzed in an accident about 10 years ago that was not military-related.

A home and pool contractor in Palm Coast, Priotti said he moved to Gainesville last year to get a construction management degree from Santa Fe College. He is now enrolled at SFC. Priotti said he has friends who are still in the Army from whom he gets uniforms, adding he usually wears one for Halloween.

Maybe the idiot Marine knew who this guy was and took drunken offense at a vet in a wheelchair who was suggesting he was in a wheelchair because of the military because he was wearing new uniforms he got from army friends in the 15 years since he's been out.

Either way, after reading the other article, I'm not sure I like either of them.

LDM90: Former Marine?

Um, you realize that the Marines specifically targets people that'd otherwise be petty thugs and criminals for the enlisted class, right? I mean, they're not all bad people or anything, but neither would this level of alcoholic lack of self-control between tours be considered particularly a turn-off by the folks paying his salary.

Basically, imagine that one asshat in every office who is always a douche but never seems to get fired because his position calls for douchebaggery, but what your office does for a living is kill people.

Albeit, now that it's made the damned newspaper you can bet there's going to be some disciplinary action going on. The military takes its PR pretty seriously, since its ability to place bases and train people is pretty heavily dependent on local good will.

Judge Cicconetti from Painesville, OH would totally hand out a sentence like that. For example he once sentenced three men guilty of soliciting prostitutes to take turns wearing a chicken costume and holding a sign reading "No Chicken Ranch in Painesville". (Source)

He gets away with it because defendants get a choice between a traditional sentence and a (generally shorter) bizarre sentence.  In my above example the defendants could choose between that and a 30-day jail sentence.

There's nothing in either article to imply that is the case.

If the guy in a wheelchair had gone as a bicycle racer for Halloween, would you have assumed he was in the wheelchair because he got hurt bicycling.

What the fark did you just farking say about me, you little biatch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fark out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my farking words. You think you can get away with saying that shiat to me over the Internet? Think again, farker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're farking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shiat. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your farking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shiat fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're farking dead, kiddo.

Twice in three days? What are the chances?

All you veterans in wheelchairs better avoid Florida. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Too many veterans from all branches of the military have a sense of entitlement, superiority, arrogance. Thank you for serving our country. I mean that. Without an active military, we'd be overrun, by default.

But there are so many entitled assholes out there, who think that because they took a crappy job for my benefit, I owe them gratitude for wiping their own butts. Military service engenders arrogance. I've seen it time and time again. They are the high-school football jocks of the grown-up world.

If you can't assimilate back into society after serving your country, you can fark right the hell off. If you had your way, we'd have a police state, and you'd be giving the rest of us swirlies in the public toilets, all the while demanding we salute you for being so brave.

If you don't know why you're defending me, I don't want you defending me.

When I was in high school, I took the ASVAB as an insurance policy just in case. As it turned out, I got the top score of all the kids tested at my high school that year......never did join the military. The Army, Navy, and Air Force recruiters started calling immediately, and the recruiting calls/letters kept coming for years. I got my last National Guard recruiting letter when I was 42 years old! Never did hear from the Marines.

Do I believe this guy is a Marine? Yup.
