I love the part where the Greenwich police are suggesting they head into Stamford and Norwalk. That's pretty much what they tell everyone who isn't wearing plaid golf shorts.

The lines for gas in Stamford aren't all that pretty, either. We just got the stations around here back yesterday, and most of us were out of, or low on,gas at that point.

Though Greenwich cops sending people from NY up here probably didn't help. Driving around here sucks, everyone is acting like an idiot.

Calm down. They're from New York. I'm sure they will behave in a considerate and civilized manner.

Is it illegal to fill up unapproved containers with gas in Connecticut? Here in Massachusetts we have signs saying not to but I don't think they are legally effective.

2012-11-03 08:11:09 PM
Is the plastic used in coolers good for gas, especially gas with ethanol? Some plastic will start to dissolve...

I am getting a kick out of the people runnin out of gas while waiting in line to get gas. You might could maybe shut off the engine instead of sitting there burning gas for an hour or two. Also wondering how many people are driving fuel inefficient enough vehicles to almost burn as much getting to and from the distant station as they were allowed to buy.

Pretty sure that it's illegal to transport gas in an unsafe container pretty much everywhere.

I wish we could have seen the look on the face of the first idiot that tried to pump gasoline into a styrofoam beer cooler, only to have the gas disolve the cooler.

Maybe the influence of midwesterns who will leave the car running (and unlocked!) while they get out to have a 20 minute conversation at the local convenience store?

Kocsis, who lives on 88th Street and First Avenue said there was no gas at the stations he stopped at in the Bronx early Friday morning.

Asshole, you live in an area that's had power the whole time, and where public transit was restored by Thursday if not Wednesday. What the fark you need gasoline so badly for?

He's hoarding his remaining gasoline, so he's huffing it.

What is this "gasoline" of which you speak? We have no such thing here. Our cars run on unicorn farts and smugness here. Go back to your little island and wait for your magical liquids there.

Gabor Kocsis

He's got a Hungarian name, and for the lulz, Kocsis means has a car.

/Derived from kocsi [ˈko.tʃi] ~ coach / cart / car
/BTW the English word couch comes from the Hungarian kocsi for realz

i probably shouldn't say it but we have plenty of gas in danbury and no lines. these fools stick to the 95 corridor instead. a lot of these folks are going south then east to get to greenwich/stam/norwalk when they could simply go east and a little north to hit danbury.

Me, I'd just keep going till I could find a reasonably priced motel and ride it out there.

It is illegal to store gasoline in an unapproved container in Connecticut and probably every other state.

I wondered that myself: here in Wisconsin you can only dispense gasoline into a gas tank or a red container marked 'GASOLINE.' I woulda thought Connecticut would have had a similar law

I guess you didn't read the other thread... apparently their "lifestyle" does not involve mundane things like preparations. If there was a way to make the vehicles run with wine from Trader Joe's, there would not be a problem right now...

2012-11-03 09:36:45 PM
If they didn't have anti-gouging laws, and the price was allowed to reflect supply and demand, those with gas in Connecticut would be moving it to New York, and there wouldn't be long gas lines.
