If ever anyone deserved a KHITBASH, it's that first biatch. What a coont.

They have a very valid complaint. The marathon should have been cancelled on day one, not several days later.

2012-11-03 03:34:12 PM
What a bunch of freaking idiots. All of whom probably have homes with power, food and heat.

And the woman who needs *seven* people as her support system? Jesus.

2012-11-03 03:39:05 PM
I still think they should've changed it to a mini-triathalon. 1/3 running, 1/3 swimming through flooded tunnels and subways, and maybe 1/3 bicycling supplies to people.

NutWrench: It's a 2 minute video. I made it to 30 seconds.

Holy crap I came here to say exactly that. I wanted to punch that woman in the throat in less than 10 seconds and quit 20 seconds later. Wow. What a twat.

2012-11-03 03:47:59 PM
You know, lady from Houston, we DO have our own marathon.

It should have been cancelled sooner, before people flew in.

Here's a couple groups of marathon runners using their legs for the cause - since they already arrived there anyway:

Staten Island Marathon for Sandy Relief

New York Runners in Support of Staten Island

I completely understand why a runner might be pissed, it should've been canceled Tuesday morning. But, really, have they seen the news? I think we all need to point the finger of blame at the person who deserves it: Bloomberg.

Maybe new york is too butt hurt to keep having these, judging by the comments.

Just wrap yourselves up in 9-11 history and now the storms, live your lives out as disaster victims forever. Be like Liverpool is with Hillsborough, 23 years now, Justice for the 96. YNWA.

Never forget, new york, never forget.

Yes these people sound douchey, So do you if you just dropped maybe $10,000 on plane tickets for your family, hotel, many days used up planning ... only to be told last minute its all off. When competent leadership would have cancelled it say day one of the storm, so the thousands of out of towners all out the money now could have cancelled and gotten a refund, at least.

If you ever put that much effort into something as well as personal cost, you might understand. Bloomberg or whoever led the event should have put out a statement last monday, its over, don't come. We're sorry. Priorities at home.

Instead nothing, they all were told in fact it was on, and only local outrage made Bloomberg cave at the last minute.

That really isn't fair to the out of towners, it isn't their fault they were told come anyway.

Cheap talk on the internet is cheap.

That is the definition of coont

2012-11-03 04:14:49 PM
Dear Coont at the beginning of the video,

Why don't you and your 7-person "support team" go to South Manhattan, North Jersey, or Staten Island and help out some folks?

sincerely,

YOUR FARKING CONSCIENCE!

Thats a great idea, I think she could have done that .

2012-11-03 04:36:01 PM
Meh, I understand the frustration...but I also own a TV and have access to the internet, so one could pretty easily predict that this was gonna get canceled.

Personally, if it was me, I would have canceled everything after seeing the destruction on TV, and the money that was set aside for the trip I would have donated to the Red Cross or some other charity. Look, there is always next year or other cities marathons.

2012-11-03 04:47:03 PM
She's right. Bloomberg should pay-- the little cokesucker. I hope they start a class action and take away some of his billions to pay for his incompetence.

Let's see-- $10K for every runner ought to cover it. That's only $500 million.

2012-11-03 05:14:32 PM
No one's stopping you from running around the city, you vapid coont. Go for it.

2012-11-03 05:16:57 PM
It's easy to predict back lash in complaining about such a thing, but she has a very valid point. It was incompetence on the part of Bloomberg that is the real point here. Cancel it sooner...it's not exactly something you can / should wait until the last minute on.

AbbeySomeone: It should have been cancelled sooner, before people flew in.

They should have canceled it the moment they knew it was going to make Landfall in the heart of NYC.

Marcus Aurelius: No one's stopping you from running around the city, you vapid coont. Go for it.

I don't get it. Is there even some prize for winning the NY Marathon? Or is it just bragging rights to participate in it? At any rate, it doesn't justify, for example, kicking people who are homeless thanks to the storm out of hotels so those entitled SOBs can get a room for the night because they didn't get to run their race.

2012-11-03 05:40:30 PM
I'd be totally ok if somebody decided to find her house, flood it out, and then set it in fire.

I'm just saying.

BronyMedic: They should have canceled it the moment they knew it was going to make Landfall in the heart of NYC.

I am willing to give the organizers the benefit of the doubt in that 1. they did not know how severe the storm was going to be and 2. once it did make landfall, I am sure they were at their own homes securing their shiat down...

I only got as far as "Cancel it before we come"... From that point out, the bile started to rise.

We're SO sorry, your nose... I mean, you got all inconvenienced and that great whopping honker had to be loaded into the back of a pickup to be hauled to NYC. You poor, poor thing, that's one massive shnoz you got there! No wonder you're pissed.

Hey, coont? Yeah, the world bleeds for you. You went ALL the way there. Boo farking hoo. Christ, people are just unable to put things in perspective. It's all about how they were inconvenienced. farking twat.

Incompetence? What was incompetent? Bloomberg gets the best of both worlds: the revenue from the tourism and then the opportunity to gain some empathy by cancelling it (or save funds by not having to actually run the event). He deserves praise for the beautiful bait and switch.

I didn't see the 7 person support team mentioned in that one. She needs a kick in the hoohah if she needs a seven person support team. (She needs one anyway.) When I run a race, my personal support team is my husband who drops me off at the beginning of the race and picks me up at the end.

2012-11-03 06:43:41 PM
Damn it, I need NYC police to stop helping people with their homes destroyed and no power so they can stand in the street and block traffic so that I can run for fun! What? Use my now free time to go help other people?! I am too offended!

Its not even that he didn't cancel it earlier, but that he initially was insisting it would go on as planned.

2012-11-03 07:18:43 PM
For Heaven's sake. Priorities can be your friend.

Everyday life: shelter, water, food, the postal service, telephone, the internet = important
Some damn sporting event = of secondary importance, apart from PR.

Don't blame Bloomberg: he understands.

2012-11-03 07:58:36 PM
Have to agree with the lady in the article. Canceling it would have been fine, if not for the fact that they waited until the day before.

I'd just say fark it and go run the course on my own, or at least as much of it as I could legally.

2012-11-03 08:05:41 PM
Are the organizers offering any kind of deal for entry next year? Half off, or free if you volunteer to help with cleanup?

Does it justify making up false stories about kicking people out of hotels, or trusting fark headlines without reading the corresponding article?

how can that be better when you just linked to the exact same video that 2xhelix linked to? which is now the link that the admins changed it to. which is not the original video that was submitted, which made the headline make sense.

the current headline doesn't match well with the replacement link.

It's hilarious that the girl on the left knows exactly how awkward and douchy she's being, and wants to be anywhere else but listening to her biatch.

Hey schnozz -- I know you trained hard. I know your toenails are falling off. I know your muscle milk supplies are running dangerously low. But you know what? fark you. Think about someone else for once in your life.

She doesn't need a 7 person support team. I'm guessing 7 people joined her to watch her run and play tourist in NYC. It's pretty common for family and friends to tag along on marathon/triathlons trips.

I read one story where a runner from Europe said that it will take some time for her to regain trust in the NYC marathon. Yeah okay lady the worst storm of the century (centuries?) comes through a town flooding the subways and you're unsure if you can trust the NYC marathon for being canceled? DIAF.

But the mayor screwed up by announcing far and wide that the marathon would go on regardless. So people booked hotels, paid for flights and arrived in New York only to have him change his mind a few days later.

THIS. I would have cancelled going after seeing the destruction. How embarrassing would it be to run past newly homeless New Yorkers in your new Nikes and silk shorts?

2012-11-03 11:37:20 PM
It sucks that the marathon was cancelled, and it sucks that the mayor's hubris prevented the cancellation from happenIng in a more timely manner.

The runners' responses are a greater measure of their worth than their finish times would have been. Losers whine about their inconvenience and book the first flight home. Champions use the time they would have spent running to do some good.

hackhix: biatch at 1:44 can EABOD!

she lives in Connecticut Texas for pete's sake

From TFA:
However, thousands of runners who have spent months training for the event, like Teri Butler from Houston in Texas, have been left disappointed: "We spent thousands of dollars to bring our family here, paid for hotel rooms, airline tickets. Cancel it before we come.
"Cancel it two days ago when everyone had an opportunity to not spend all that money. We understand and we're so sorry for the people who've suffered and a natural disaster is a terrible thing but we can't change that. So let us run, and we were donating so much to the cause. We were helping people through our running."

Speaking as a person who generally finds NYC marathoners (and the NYRR organization itself) annoying in the best of times, If this video was taken less than 12 hours after the announcement, she gets a pass.

But the level of self-delusion among the runners is a bit amazing, and the self-delusion between Bloomberg & the NYRR is historically epic. BECAUSE a few months ago, the NYRR said the finish area of the marathon was such a clusterfark they were doing away with bag checks. That is, with everything running smoothly in NYC, we can't really get your sh*t from Staten Island to Upper West Side to your hands without it being a clusterfark. And now they think they could have pulled it off when NYC is one step above Mississippi!?
Idiots.

Running for fun, just cant get into it. Tough Mudder is a little more interesting, buts its still too much activity, not enough drinking.
