I_C_Weener: Learning about both sides before making blind decisions based on what MSNBC says is a much wiser way to live.
When they offered me money for helping, I said no thanks. Give to relief efforts instead...even if Obama said not to.

That's all nice and such...except...

This point about Obama saying not to donate is a blatant lie. As is and has been movement conservatism for the past 4 or 5 decades.

Don't get me wrong, I help people too, expecting nothing in return, it's how I was raised, and it's the right thing to do.
But using a completely bullshiat point to show us what an enlightened, compassionate, conservative dude you are kinda ruins that whole aura

Your political philosophy may be rational in your mind, but the party you alleged you support bears absolutely no resemblance to that philosophy.

First of all, I love Love LOVE how you say that it's MSNBC and not Fox that cause voters to make blind decisions.

Secondly, Obama fully funded the Violence Against Women Act and there's video from 2008 of Romney chastising a woman who chose to have an abortion rather than, you know, die. And then walked away when she asked 'What about my responsibility to my other three children?'

Also, credit card reform.
And Cash For Clunkers.
And repealing DADT and endorsing gay marriage.
And successfully managing the BP oil spill, which was supposed to be his Katrina.
And Obamacare, which was supposed to be his Waterloo.
And Hurricane Sandy, which was ALSO supposed to be his Katrina.

So yeah, I'm actually pretty informed. How about I take a side-by-side civics quiz against your average Fox viewer...

Antimatter: I voted for Obama as Obama gets the job done. The GOP are sociopaths, without empathy, who crave death, destruction, and poverty for all but their elite few.

3,000 corpses in new york and penns are a testament to GOP failures.

Last week on his show (or maybe it was the week before, I can't remember) Chris Hayes made a really good point about how all the "combativeness" in political discourse nowadays is actually a sign that our system of democracy is healthy at some basic level. That is, the heated rhetoric of our politics can actually function positively as a safety valve against physical violence, which is precisely what democratic systems are supposed to prevent. I think he was talking about this in the context of "independent" and "undecided" voters who whine about how vicious politics can be.

Anyway, I tend to agree with him, and I think it's applicable here. Vengeance is the sort of ugly motive that democratic systems are designed to mollify by channeling them into non-violent actions. It's not an abuse of the system if people use it to vent their anger. That's exactly what it's there for.

Maybe the message would have less resonance if your campaign didn't blatantly lie to Ohioans trying to scare their votes out of them.

I ain't too happy with the Big 0 either, but the Neocons who invaded Clinton's second term and totally ran both of GWB's terms are once again jockeying for position in Romney's campaign. These are the same farkers who have driven us to war needlessly, turning the middle east into a bubbling cauldron of who the fark knows.... demanded tax cuts but never bothered to offset them with spending cuts, created the laissez faire deregulated economic conditions that blew a 2+ trillion dollar hole in the American economy, and then blamed it all on the black guy (successfully too in many corners of America) when their run was over.

When it's this close, a vote for 3rd party is a vote for the wishy washy flip flopper being handled by Neocons.

And I've had enough of the Chickenhawk PNAC Neocons to last several lifetimes.

2012-11-03 06:14:09 PM
The impotent rage that Romney will feel, as he must fully emotionally grasp the fact that he finally found something all the money in the world can't buy him is revenge enough.

Entitled, born with a solid platinum spoon in his mouth piece of garbage that wasn't happy being just rich, but he had to spend his life putting Americans out of work and sending their jobs to India and China.

He is subhuman garbage and a fundamentalist cultist to boot.

And lastly, why wouldn't a rich spoiled piece of shiat like him just buy a suburban, so the dog wouldn't have to ride on the roof? What does a suburban cost.. 1% of the monthly stock dividends he was born with?

I hope his worldview is crushed so bad when he loses that he kills himself and makes the world a better place.

Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but is it anyway to base your vote on?

though TFA is aimed at Obama, I think the bolded part is more applicable to the Republicans... and why Romney will lose. No one is voting for Romney, they are voting against Obama; that position will only get Romney but so far. (see: John Kerry in 2004) If anything, if it's not something you should base your vote on, it's definitely not something you should frame your campaign strategy around as you'll likely just end up with a base that is louder than it is numerous.

FloydA: HeartBurnKid: FTFA: "No, no, no, Don't boo. Vote," Obama told the crowd. "Voting is the best revenge."

So... am I the only one who doesn't see a problem with this statement?

Nope. Anyone who isn't already looking for a reason to hate the President would think "yeah, that's pretty standard campaign rhetoric." But the GOP have become the party of permanent outrage, so anything Obama says, they have to find a way to spin it negatively. If Obama says "Hello," the GOP will start shrieking because it starts with "hell."

You almost have to give them kudos, though. It's extraordinarily difficult to spin "offense" out of absolutely nothing. Usually there's a small baseline they work with and then spin out hyperbolicly. There's nothing here at all.

Yes. What Obama should have said, what he meant to say and therefore did say even though he didn't say it, was "No, no, no, Don't boo. Crawl in through their windows and kill them in their sleep. Killing your political enemies in their sleep is the best revenge." Good God! How could Obama say such a thing? He truly is history's greatest monster.

just commenting. IMHO the average Fox viewer are senior citizens who are used to having five channels to choose from, and watch the news at least twice a day. back in the 60s there was actually some real news being broadcast. sadly it appears there is very little TV news worth viewing these days regardless of dial selection.

I don't even mind it in the literal sense that the Republicans are trying to spin it as (did that sentence make sense?). Barack Obama has had four constant years of bullshiat, racism, obstruction, tantrums, intentional sabotage of the economy, and lie after lie after lie aimed at him. Victory on Tuesday will be revenge, indeed. Well deserved. It would be far, far sweeter revenge if we could hand him the House as well, but I don't honestly think there are enough informed people (too many infromed ones) to do that. Giving him four years without re-election concerns and a Senate majority should be enough to tailspin the far right directly into the ground, and who knows -- in four years there might just be someone sane who could come up as a Republican nominee. Then we'd see a REAL interesting show.
