I hope two people don't find a bat near about the same time... because that could get ugly.

Charlie Freak: Tomorrow's followup: 30 people arrested for assault...

Well, I have always wondered why the hitter throws down the bat when running the bases.

7th Son of a 7th Son: Good thing they're not in Boston

Or Detroit...those bats would be petrified wood before they were found.

More like the bats themselves will be burned for heat and the people looking for them will have their heads cracked open as their assailants feast upon the goo inside

Put them all in the visitor's dugout, nobody will find them there.

other news around the league (since this is the only baseball thread):

Ortiz gets a two year deal with the Red Sox
Mariano confirms return
A's inexplicably give Bartolo Colon 3M/1yr
Angels do not give offer to Torii Hunter
Brewers did not give offers to K-Rod or Marcum
Nationals made offer to LaRoche, did not to Edwin Jackson
Yankees gave offers to Rafael Soriano, Kuroda and Swisher. Kuroda's offer is likely genuine (all 3 are 13.3M/1yr.. minimum to protect a draft pick), Soriano and Swisher are likely to walk. This is more than Kuroda made this year (10M) but the only snag is he has said if he felt he is near retirement, he would play his final year in Japan.
McGwire to become hitting coach for the Dodgers.
