If we're getting technical, Truce at Bakura is set immediately after Return of the Jedi but I would like to see the Thrawn trilogy.

However, haven't they already said it would be a completely original story?

Something with Space Taliban.

However, his books remain so popular they could still have a Force-like pull on the movies.

So popular, in fact, that I'd never heard of them. :)

If they are going to make some more star wars groups they should just make it clear they will have nothing to do with the prequels aside from names of places and what not. I heard Zahn told lucas the prequels sucked.

Fun fact: Jar Jar Binks is alive and well and living on Coruscant at the end of Jedi.

Jar Jar should get his own series.

"It's a couple of weeks after the first Death Star has been destroyed, and Han, Lando and Chewie are going to collect eight other scoundrels for a heist," Zahn says. "They're going up against a criminal who has a supposedly impregnable vault where they are going to try to steal 163 million credits."
He says he took inspiration from a familiar kind of team caper. Think The Dirty Dozen, The Expendables or the Frank Sinatra and George Clooney heist films. "This is the Star Wars version of Ocean's 11," Zahn says. "In fact, my original title was Solo's 11, but they decided that might be a little too close to the trademark."

Out of the frying pan and into the fire I suppose.

Greg Costikyan? Oh. Zahn, the R.A. Salvatore of the EU.

2012-11-03 05:17:50 PM
I always liked "Han Solo at Stars' End"
Also Death Troopers was a fun read though it takes place, if I remember correctly, right before A New Hope. Doubt they'll go the zombie route anyway

listen, i know my star wars..and my Disney...

opening shot:
crippled star destroyer limps into frame, it is chasing Han Scrooge and Mayor McCheese...

Mickey Maul is seen on the screen.

"Give up..there is no escape!" etc etc
insert fanboy retardation here at will

it's gonna be total crap whatever it is.. the whole thing died after Kurtz left.

i'll wait for the special edition on red ray with all the revisions...

DONALD SHOT FIRST!!

2) Get them to say anything about Episode VII

mhd: Greg Costikyan? Oh. Zahn, the R.A. Salvatore of the EU.

Don't get Costikyan involved in any Star Wars jazz that will suck up his writing time and make him tons of money. That man owes me a third book in his unfinished, poorly selling fantasy trilogy.

/Because as a fan who has spent $21.44 on his works, I deserve everything I want, have a right to loudly voice my opinion in off-topic discussions, and should be allowed to determine the course of his career, et cetera...

I'm personally hoping they might use animation to explore some side-stories that might not warrant the full movie treatment, or who have actors too old to do the parts.

In particular, I'd love to see Shadows of the Empire in action, since it's always been a pretty fun story.

/especially like the bounty hunters and the shenanigans they get up to
//and the origin of Leia's alien outfit

Prediction: When they ever decide to wind down the boring Clone Wars cartoon, they will put Ahsoka Tano in some kind of stasis (carbonite maybe) and forget about her and she will mysteriously wash up in episode 7, injected onto some storyline.

/The cartoon has its moments, but by its chronology there's never any tension and it suffers from too many empassioned speeches.

I'm expecting the "Expanded Universe" is going to get a little more expanded as they have to write around all the new shiat that has nothing to do with their agreed-upon canon. Again.

/not bitter, really

I'd pay for Death Troopers.

The fact is that they can do whatever they want, and people will like it, if they do a good enough job. There would be much fanboy moaning if they decided to reboot the cast and hire Miley Cyrus to play Princess Leia. But if they knock it out of the park, whatever. Everyone in the desired age range 0 to what, 50...will pay and give themselves a shot to be entertained. But they'd better get it right or that well may be poisoned. So take your time and get it right. My son is 2 so +3 years would be about the right time for him. I'd love to be able to share fantastic new Star Wars adventures with him.

If they're going to do it about Han and Leia's kids, just bring back Harrison...It's Disney, at least one parent has to die/be dead anyway....

I wonder if Disney has the right to go in and change it back to Han shooting first?

Why didn't they ever make a SPACEBALLS -2 or whatever making fun of the prequels?

DrowningLessons: God, this Episode VII+ stuff is already old. This is gonna get really annoying. For nerds, it's what's gonna replace the election.

On the up-side, they're promising the first new film in 2015, so we only have two plus years of this nonsense.

MBTAhole: Why didn't they ever make a SPACEBALLS -2 or whatever making fun of the prequels?

Short answer: Mel Brooks is 80-something and spent most of the last 15 years making musicals because he's "too old" to get film financing in Hollywood .
