So, essentially, the Sentinels of Magic with John Constantine popping in for an appearance.

Wait, there is actually a Justice League Dark? Farkin' 52, dammit. I'm way behind on everything.

Yes, but back in '52 they called it the "Negro justice league" They even had a special edition with MLK Jr in it.

Just the "here are actresses and cosplayers dressed as Zatanna" discussion threads will make this all worth it.

(umm, Zatanna!)

Incidentally, Paul Dini, the comic book and Batman TAS writer, is obsessed with Zatanna. How obsessed? He married Misty Lee, the magician. She looks like this:

It fails without Doctor Fate.

Also, Captain Marvel is technically entirely magic. He made a great appearance in Batman/Superman: Public Enemies.

Now I JUST read JLDark and Aquaman.

everyone in that film with the exception of Keanu Eastwood was great.
Even Shiba La Douche was tolerable...and the fat guy from X Files...Vince Pruit Taylor Van Vince Van Pruit or whatever his name is.

the douche married to Gwen Stiffani was thankfully only cardboarding for a few minutes...

good director, bad casting..looked great..

no no..they don't put black people in them movies less they be getting killed right away or are marginalized characters...

it's the Lando Calrissian clause...

its why Richard Pryor wasn't DARKMAN...

it's also why Tom Cruise will end up being cast as Martin Luther King....

The comic is boring though, so they'll have to fix that in post.

you tell them. they are fictional characters so they probably are more real to you in your conversations with them.

when Nick Fury gets his own ride at Disneyland I'll eat Werner Herzogs shoe.

Yeah, if you'd read the comics you wouldn't have liked it. I'd only read a handful of them, certainly not the whole series, before I watched that movie. I figured my somewhat limited knowledge might protect me from some of the inevitable disappointment that generally comes from these sorts of adaptations. I was wrong. I should have known they were going to mess it up when they called the movie Constantine instead of Hellblazer. It didn't even feel like I was watching the same character from the comic.

I'd love to see someone with talent take a shot at the character again, but for the love of all that is holy, keep Keanu the hell away from it.

/ keep him the hell away from Cowboy Bebop, too, while you're at it

Yeah, they need someone fairly expressive to play the character... and less action-ey. And, at this point, they need someone fairly _old_.

/ keep him the hell away from Cowboy Bebop, too, while you're at it

In all fairness, Keanu could pull off Spike fairly well. In the original cartoon the character's whole deal was that he was basically numb to the world and couldn't be bothered to react to anything beyond stepping out of the way of the occasional missile, I think Mr. Reeves has that shiat down pretty much pat. Basically, The Matrix + Point Break - Speed = workable Spike. Not great, but hardly the worst pick they could make.

No fishnet leggings, I completely agree....

2012-11-03 11:17:39 PM
when you cosplay as Zatanna, you're essentially not even cosplaying. You're just dressing up in a feminine version of men's formal attire. Zatanna's costume isn't really much of a costume. It's more like what you'd wear if you were a femme lesbian going to a prom with your even more femme date.

2012-11-03 11:21:23 PM
Justice League Dark is full of great characters that are all being wasted in a boring book. Also, they changed Zatanna's costume, not (pretty much by definition) for the better.

Okay, people have already said those things, so uh...Justice League Dark? What, does it have bittersweet chocolate or something?

2012-11-03 11:38:11 PM
This makes tons of sense. Because everyone knows Justice League Dark has far more pop culture awareness and likelihood of cross-over appeal than just the regular old Justice League. Why make a movie with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman when you could make a Deadman and Costantine movie?

Why does Warner Brothers even pretend to know what they are doing?

Yeah, Keanu is good at playing that one particular type, and he's a good choice if that's all of Spikes personality they want to portray. But there were occasional moments when Spike would come alive, and I don't think Keanu has the range to do it justice.

But really I just don't want that movie to happen at all, regardless of Reeves' involvement. I have zero faith in hollywood's ability to pull off a live action adaptation. They'd probably cast Kristen Stewart as Faye. *shudders*

I think spinning off their big team franchise early is a good idea, and del Toro is a good choice. I'd be interested to see what he could do with a supernatural superhero movie.

I hope there is some sort of online petition to get him to cast Sting as Constantine!

What is Justice League Dark?

It's the Justice League with 60% Cacao chocolate.

Seriously, why the fark does DC come up with the absolutely dumbest names for characters?

Red Robin: It's a burger joint, not Tim Drake (yes, I know it was Dick Grayson in Kingdom Come. It's still a burger joint, not a hero)

Batwing: That's the name of the plane. And don't even get me started on the 'Batman of Africa' thing. Africa is a continent, not a single nation. Is Banshee called 'The X-Man of Europe?' No.

I know that's who Alan Moore based his look on but he's too old now. My vote goes to....
