It is a complete nightmare down here. I have spent the last three days clearing out my parents entire house. Really hard to watch my mother go through and throw away things that her mother left for her. The rumor is that their town won't have power, gas, or water for 4 to 6 months. Not sure where they are going to live in the meantime but we are taking it one step at a time.

You can donate $10 by cell. Text to 80888, keyword RESTORE. Their headquarters are in one of the areas hit hard on Staten Island..

Not a praying man, but my thoughts (and money) are going out to them. I am very sorry for what you are going through.

Rudy G. was on the radio last night being interviewed about the whole situation, or something in specific, I'm not sure, but the point is that he mentioned 9/11 in HIS FIRST SENTENCE.

The man is a walking cliché.

Which town were they in?

Seems like a lot of people don't understand how much clean-up is involved and that everyday folks are the ones that have to do it.

Whether or not an area was evacuated - has nothing to do with the clean-up - and it doesn't prevent one's home from getting destroyed.

Folks evacuate so they don't get killed but they still have to come back after and deal with the clean up.

If their home was destroyed while they were gone then they now have to find somewhere to stay.
