Cartersville's Anheuser-Busch plant has switched over one of its lines from producing cans of beer to producing cans of emergency drinking water for victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Busch, eh? I'm surprised they had to switch lines.

FTA: "It's a relatively easy process," said Plant Operations Manager Scott Vail. "The biggest thing we have to do is shut down and clean, because we don't want any beer mixed in with the water we're sending up there to the people."

Seems like overkill. I don't think the people would notice.

Today we're substituting water for people's Busch beer. Lets see if anyone notices.

So true. It took me quite an effort to relieve myself after drinking 12 bottles of your product while watching the Chiefs play on Thursday.

Actually, they idled that plant on Oct. 29 in anticipation of the storm and have yet to reopen it.

A couple years ago I worked with a lady who had these pages printed out from the internet about "The dangers of dihydrogen monoxide" and she had showed them to me and I read them and laughed and said "hon, it's water. Dihydrogen monoxide is the chemical name for water."

I still get a chuckle about that.

The tasting room in the plant -bowls of hops n such - is way cool. Was also neat to get a tour from the brewmaster, nicest guy ever, in a plant that doesn&t give tours. Say what you will about the products, but there are some damned nice folks there and that place was spotless a decade ago.

Sorry beer snobs, but paying $15-20 per 12 pk for 30+ people just can't do it in this economy.
/Budweiser and bud lite for the guest, OE 800 for me :)

It probably won't be uttered but I can imagine the thought of "Sweet!! free beer, oh wait this isn't beer damnit" happening more than a few times when people get the first cases.

I know, I just can't help thinking there are some utterly hilarious jokes about that, if only Farkers would make some! I'd make the jokes myself but I'm just not funny enough.

I'm actually touched by this gesture of humanity.

I am going to buy and consume a six-pack in gratitude.

The off-label name for their canned water is Floodweiser.
Nice gesture.

This is lip service, at best. Most of that drinking water will never make it to NYC or NJ.
