buntz: Let me ask you space geeks a question:Would it possible to shoot something in the direction of the moon and actually hit it? Like, say, a baseball?First, is there a cannon or something that would be powerful enough to break out of the Earth's atmosphere and if so, would it be possible to aim and land on the moon with an object from Earth?Better yet, what would be the possibly of hitting Mars? Once it breaks the atmosphere, wouldn't inertia carry in a straight line to Mars?
