Kimothy: theorellior: Kimothy: When I read crap like this, I often wish the South would've been successful in their secession. Then we'd have the first world United States next to the failed experiment third world Confederate States. They'd probably be sick of their own shiat by now and attempting to make some progress. Instead, they are stuck trying to force on the rest of us their ass-backward theological, racial, and patriotic beliefs that achieve nothing but division, distress, and produce demagogues who pander to the fear of their under- and uneducated masses.

I've been wondering recently, instead of the South seceding and forming a New Confederacy, could we just kick them out and close the borders? Same end result, but it would certainly be more proactive.

I'd vote for a Constitutional Amendment that does just that.... would be awesome. They'd be "Handmaid's Tale" crazy in less than a year, I bet.

If obama wins, it should be taken as an indictment of how unappealing the gop has become. Obama should have been an easy incumbent to oust, but their message is just toxic. They're going to lose ground in congress. I expect democrat majorities in both houses by 2015 unless the gop can change their message, and they wouldn't have forgotten 2010-2012. They'll ram everything through.

A Dark Evil Omen: that bosnian sniper: I'd suggest building a rocket and launching GOP Congressmen into the Sun, but they'd just figure out a way to obstruct it, blanket the Earth in darkness, and blame Obama for it.

If the Republicans ever got their hands on the Necronomicon, they'd waken dread Cthulhu, blame the Democrats for not stopping them, and then block any attempts to seal him back in R'lyeh unless they also got to eliminate all taxes on the rich and force the entire working class into slave camps.

Dude! Did you run this campaign in Northern IL, like 20 years ago?

What? Why is everyone looking at me?

CorporatePerson: What a bunch of dicks.

Hey Republicans, do you see Chris Christie and Obama working together? That's how it's supposed to be all the time. We're electing you to get a job done. Stop making up bullshiat lies to get people to hate Obama, tough it out, and work with the guy
even if you don't like him like everyone else in the country has to do with their coworkers they dislike.

Heh. A Republican at work was whining about that. Besides the standard RINO comments, he biatched how "Obama did what he was supposed to do, so why even mention it? he should only mention Obama is it's negative." He couldn't comprehend that someone could be a Republican (or even an American) and have something positive to say about Obama.

d23: Old Story is Old...

This has been around about 10 days or so. This is shot on Super-8 film. The problem with that is that Super-8 was invented in 1965. Barry was "invented" in 1961.

Someone was even going onto the Wikipedia web page changing the super-8 invention date back to 1960 to make this seem more legitimate... or something.

HeartBurnKid: A Dark Evil Omen: More to the point, it was white aristocrats fighting white aristocrats over who got to control a particular labor underclass. It was largely about slavery in the sense that the slaves were the resource being fought over.

Which is why, after the North won, blacks continued to be slaves. Amirite?

No, instead they were forced into the absolute bottom rung of capitalist society as wage slaves, often with worse quality of life than they "enjoyed" as slaves.

4. Bomb Iran. Negotiations have failed.
5. Repeal Obamacare to preserve freedom of choice. No, not that choice. See (3).
6. Build a fence along the southern border.
7. Break for lunch.

Sure, presenting the South as anything other than a tyrannical slave empire is disingenuous. Similarly, however, presenting the North as anything other than a brutal plutocracy as similarly disingenuous.

I'm surprised Romney isn't pushing the 0.1% increase in unemployment. Are most people not the mindless lemmings I thought they were? At 8:30 this morning, I figured the unemployment number would be pushed as Romney's "October Surpise", 2 days late.

In his victory speech Bush went on about how he had political capital and a mandate to continue his policies. I seriously hope Obama uses the opportunity to point out that the GOP can't use the "one term president" agenda anymore and need to stop their teahadist tantrum to move on and get the country's business done.

... the people going on about how "red states should suffer" realize that basically every state is split within spitting distance of 50/50 in basically every election, right? We've been one nation and not a loose confederacy of independent states since the 1780s, and regional cultural and economic differences really aren't that big compared to most of the rest of the world.

Uh Oh Chongo Danger Island!: Gridlock is better than crony payoff laden legislation passed under the guise to stimulate the economy.

Gridlock on the 'fiscal cliff' is not better than anything. If Republicans in the house insist on being ideologically pure for their tea party loonies at home, they will be solely responsible for casting a slowly recovering country back into recession. Principles are fine until they conflict with pragmatism and, for the right wingers in this country, pragmatism is either a 4-letter word or a synonym for socialism.

Oh, they don't care that he's on his second and last term. They'll still say they want to work in a bi-partisan manner, and they'll still block and filibuster everything he tries to do in the hope of keeping the recovery at a slow boil.

That way, they think, they can blame the continued slow recovery on Obama and usher in a Republican President in 2012. At which point they can take the brakes off, let the economy speed up, blame Obama (even more) for the slow recovery, and praise themselves and THEIR guy for knowing what to do to get the economy rolling.

Well, its a pretty simple calculation if you are just using cold heartless logic :

if (economy after stimulus - graft) > economy without stimulus then go ahead with stimulus
