When I read crap like this, I often wish the South would've been successful in their secession. Then we'd have the first world United States next to the failed experiment third world Confederate States. They'd probably be sick of their own shiat by now and attempting to make some progress. Instead, they are stuck trying to force on the rest of us their ass-backward theological, racial, and patriotic beliefs that achieve nothing but division, distress, and produce demagogues who pander to the fear of their under- and uneducated masses.

Seriously, do we still need these people in the 21st century?

One is honest about their hatred of freedoms. The other will gay rape you in god's name.

it's less blame, and more a situation of acknowledging the south actually tried the 'screw you guys, i'm going home' routine, paired with an intuition it may have been a better idea to just wave at them as they left.

I'm not blaming everything on the south, I'm just acknowledging that the south makes up the largest swatch of red states. Yes, there are assholes and exceptions in other states, but it's definitely the Confederate south that makes up the largest portion of the derpitude in both Congress and the population.

Maybe I'm begin hopelessly naive again, but it occurs to me that, if the reason the GOP House wanted to trash the economy to make Obama look bad was so he wouldn't be reelected, then, in his second term, they will not have that reason, since he can't run again anyway.

Instead, individual congressmen will be needing to make themselves look better for their own reelection bids starting in 2014. They'll also want to make the GOP look better in general to give the eventual Presidential nominee a better starting position.

What would be the incentive to keep being asshats, if they no longer need to destroy Obama?

I don't know about that. People seem to be getting tired of the teahadist thing. The House has it's lowest approval ratings ever, from doing just what you're saying. These guys can't be that oblivious, unless they really are just pure evil. Plus the ni-BONG will be gone in 2016 anyway, so who cares about the rest?

One other thing to consider is sequestration. Heads are going to roll in the heartland next election if the military budget gets cut. They need to let a budget happen to save their own asses.

This was my thought as well. If the obstruction was to ensure Obama is a "one term president," it would seem that in a second term the GOP would be more pliable. Thing is, I just don't trust any of these people not to find some other reason to fight the president at every turn.

Fark them. If Obama is reelected he should do everything in his power to screw over the people who didn't vote for him. For 4 years he has tried to compromise when the other side stood there and acted like spoiled children throwing a tempertantrum. If Obama is re elected its time to make a point. They had the chance to compromise and they didn't, its time for red states to suffer.

The problem is, that when you get to say your specific represenative, everyone is suddenly all gung ho for them. People despise the House in the abstract and the general feeling than they're the hold up, but unwilling to blame specific members (ESPECIALLY their own). It's why there is often attempts to focus in on SPECIFIC people of the House to burden that dislike on one side or the other (Pelosi, etc etc).

Considering the age of the average Teabagger, that might be possible by 2014.

/The Republican party still needs to GTFO. Even without the vocal crazies, their ideas do nothing but harm everyone who isn't a white, wealthy male, Christian.
