Carth: Wtf is up with the poll? almost 60% are saying the federal response to Sandy wasn't adequate? When Christie thinks Obama is doing a decent job you know he couldn't have farked it up too bad.

40-60 in an online Fox poll is a huge win for Obama. A full 40% of people who hang out on Fox's website and vote in their polls couldn't bring themselves to say he's doing a bad job.

There are poor snowflakes on my Facebook page complaining because their power was out for 8 hours. So, there you go. One of them is a trust fund baby and lives in suburbia, these are the types of people complaining the loudest. NPR had an interesting bit on this with input from linemen, and the stories of urban yuppies flipping out are just pathetic.

I did like that comment from the lineman: Country folk are used to losing power, so they're nice when they see us come out to fix it, and offer us coffee made on their wood stove. City folk aren't used to not having power, so they're frustrated and scared and can take it out on us.

I have a very "green"-type friend in Cleveland who rhapsodizes endlessly about "going off the grid" with sustainable this and carbon-footprint that. She's now been without power since Sandy's winds rolled through, and now all she does is biatch constantly about how not having electricity sucks, and how farking cold it is in her very old and drafty Victorian house in a shiatty neighborhood where her neighbors don't even knock on her door unless they're checking to make sure she's not home when they come in to steal stuff.

I probably shouldn't, but I LOL'd

You should remind her that reducing energy consumption through insulation and sealing is by far the most cost effective way to reduce your carbon footprint. But it doesn't give you the smug factor of buying wind credits or installing solar.

\We had solar at our last house, but it was already well insulated.

Vodka Zombie: Subby sounds infromed.

I think subby was joking. If I've learned anything from Fark, it's that we're all supposed to figure out sarcasm on our own. It's never the poster's fault for not having the skills to write sarcastic statements while still leaving a clue that they ARE sarcasm, it's our faults for not automatically 'getting' the joke.

OTOH, how long until some place like Brietbart really does turn this into a massive conspiracy on the part of the Obama administration?

But keep farking that chicken.

Not to mention the pesky detail that not a single 'intimidated' voter came forward.

can we just stop this? That sort of shiat is unacceptable regardless of who does it where. It's over. It is not defensible but it is no longer a story. Can we at least say that people in the uniforms of a hate group should not be outside of polling places regardless of the demographics of the neighborhood? Is that too much to ask without caveats of whether someone reported being intimidated?

FFS people - the jackholes who still bring this shiat up are jackholes because it was a relatively minor story that happened years ago. Tell them that. Don't farking defend the indefensible though

Take it easy. There's a difference between defending the NBPP being there vs. pointing out that it is not the smoking gun of dirty liberal election tactics some conservatrolls make it out to be. I was doing the latter.

Hmmmm... Wasnt that changed with the passing of the Warner Act in 2007....then ammended in 08?

Not entirely... national guard forces can be federalized without authorization of a state's governor under the Warner Act, but that's a whole different set or orders/bureaucratic nightmares. When un-federalized, the state's governor is still Commander in Chief of the guard.

Subby is forgetting, however: nobody who watches Fox knews actually knows about Chris Christie and Obama. Fox news desperately covered Benghazi rumors during the whole time their hero turned traitor; as far as the viewers know, Christie is still their conservative idol.

That also answers:

Carth: Wtf is up with the poll? almost 60% are saying the federal response to Sandy wasn't adequate?

Given the lack of coverage, I'm surprised a lot of Fox viewers even know there was a hurricane. This article, complete with photo, is a stunning admission that something happened earlier this week.

Gov. Chris Christie said that in areas without electricity, voting would again be "old school."

"You walk up, get a paper ballot, fill it out and hand it back in," he said.

MARTIAL LAW! End times!

Study it out!

/Personally, I'm going to be amazed if there isn't at least one shooting at a polling place on election day. We have people who carry guns and still fear Communists in this country.
