When they start arresting the stupid, farking teabaggers for harassing people for IDs in states that have no voter ID laws, then, it might get a little ugly.

Seriously. You see one of these morons, have them arrested. It's kind of your civic duty, ya know.

The news breaks tomorrow with proof positive that Obama was born in Kenya.

Seriously, I wish that would actually happen, because I'd love to see how that would pan out. Too bad it won't, as he was clearly born in Hawaii, but that would be fun to see.

The Romney family is actually investing in voting machines in Ohio to rig it for Obama. Mitt is using the campaign as one last money grab; once Obama is re-elected, Mittens and his rich friends start firing people and tanking the economy. Civil War 2 erupts as the religious right starts attacking those damn liberals who re-elected a president so near.

Meanwhile, the rich folk hop on their planes and fly to their private islands to wait out the end of the war and return to buy up emerging companies, amassing even more wealth, at which point they request a rewriting of the Constitution establishing a ruling class as the country descends into fuedalism.

You ever wonder that Mitt bought shares on Intrade on Obama winning just so he'd have a massive payout when it happens? I'd do that if I was running :D

I just hope the dems stay the centrist party. It is the best way to marginalize the nuts on both sides.

Plus, here is to hoping that on day 1 of President Obama's second term, that he massively trolls the nuts:
signs an executive order decriminalize drugs
forces the DEA to spend all of its resources for education and treatment
wears a taqiyah to his inauguration
requires all states to use optical scanner ballots and provides funding to replace equipment in big cities only

brokers a lasting peace deal between palestine and israel, which is embraced by muslims everywhere

He's already been President for the better part of a term and is on the ballot once again. What would happen? How would that play out? It certainly would be interesting.

We could probably broker a relative peace and two state system. It could work until one gets greedy for the other. But there could be a clause in the treaty that if anyone tries to forcibly take the other, the entire world would blow them to oblivion instantaneously, including the USA and the Middle East.

I'd support that

After roughly two years of campaigning, a deluge of campaign ads, and enough media coverage of President Obama and Mitt Romney to make a four-year-old cry, most Americans would really like the presidential election to come to an end on November 6.

Americans aren't the only ones. STFU already.

My Republican state representative lives three houses down from me, so pretty much every house on my block has his signs on the yard, except mine. I'm not stupid enough to put an Obama sign being surrounded by so much red, especially should he win.

It also doesn't bode well for us considering we're a young, interracial couple.

2012-11-02 09:25:21 AM
I honestly expect intimidation by armed anti-Obama folks in southern areas. I expect rampant refusal to let minorities and likely democratic folks vote due to "confusion" over voter ID laws. Florida will fark up their vote royally. I expect a recount even if it isn't close. Regardless of who wins accusations of voter/election fraud and conspiracy will be major issues. Fox News will site a single instance as justification for thousands of disenfranchised voters.

I also expect that regardless of who wins things will generally go on as normal. They hyper partisan platforms will be cancelled out by a stagnation defense by the minority party and we will continue down the path of plutocracy.

Romney wins and enacts his vision of America's future.

The worst scenario would be listening to cry-baby whines about election fraud for the next several years. From either side.

If people just go and vote with their three pieces of photo ID and have a little patience with the fingerprinting line we can have faith the system will work.

The thing is even if we had the technology Republicans wouldn't allow it. It would be the end all way to ensure voter fraud can't happen, but the amount of Republican voters who fear Big Brother and wouldn't show up to the voting booth would cripple the GOP.

2012-11-02 09:32:51 AM
The vice president, meanwhile, would be decided by the Senate - which Democrats are expected to maintain narrowly after Election Day. That raises the possibility of Romney taking the presidency but seeing the vice presidential slot go not to his running mate, Paul Ryan, but instead to the man who currently holds that office: Joe Biden.

Would the Senate be restricted to voting only between Biden and Ryan? A Romney/Obama administration would be epic lulz.

The Continuing Importance of Protecting the Electoral College
We oppose the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact or any other scheme to abolish or distort the procedures of the Electoral College. We recognize that an unconstitutional effort to impose "national popular vote" would be a mortal threat to our federal system and a guarantee of corruption as every ballot box in every state would become a chance to steal the presidency.

The prevailing view among birthers is this: Barack Obama (and yourself) are citizens, but not natural born citizens. Natural born citizenship requires that both of your parents be American citizens. The location of your birth does not matter - even if he was born in Hawaii (which he probably wasn't), the genetic loyalty to Kenya and the British Empire passed down to him by his father make him ineligible for the Presidency.

Of course, they also believe that his mom was a slut and that his real father was some communist black guy who actually was an American citizen. That would seem to disprove their 'two citizen parents' theory - but really, you knew they were gonna divide by zero eventually.

Inside their briefcases are all the forms you could ever need to file in order to contest an election based on any reason you could ever imagine. It's been a long years worth of prepping for it all and on Tuesday they will wake from their slumber and will watch election results to see where they need to spring into action.

Citrate1007: I honestly expect intimidation by armed anti-Obama folks in southern areas.

So, no different from 2008 then?

Fox: "OMG, there are BLACK PANTHERS are stationing themselves at PA polling places!"
Rational people: "They weren't Black Panthers, it was 2 dumbasses at one polling place, and when they were asked to leave, they did."
Fox: "BREAKING NEWS: EVIDENCE OF DEMOCRATIC VOTER INTIMIDATION!"
Rational people: "What about the flyers in VA & GA telling Democrats to vote on Wednesday? Why don't you report on that, too?"
Fox: "WIDESPREAD VOTER INTIMIDATION! Here, look at this Black Panther video from PA!"
Rational people: *facepalm*

I also expect that regardless of who wins things will generally go on as normal. They hyper partisan platforms will be cancelled out by a stagnation defense by the minority party and we will continue down the path of plutocracy.

I'm kinda curious what will happen during Obama's 2nd term. I mean, how much further right can this derpfest go? Even the Tea Party has weakened somewhat after 2010. Yeah, they got their people elected but it honestly looks like a lot of their supporters have spent the last 2 years wondering just what they'd unleashed. They don't hold the huge rallies anymore, there's no more Tea Party Express bus tour, and I haven't been hassled over the Obama sticker on my car in almost a year (I live in a very red part of NJ and usually average 2 or 3 incidents a year. 2008-2010 were record highs, with at least one or two people a month giving me a hard time about having an Obama sticker).

I think there will be some first-class derping going on for about 6-8 months after the election--lawsuits, investigations, and accusations that will make ACORN look like a jaywalking charge. But, after that, I'd like to see how things shake out. Like I said, the WARGARBBL's already been at 11 and seems to have settled somewhat. Will it finally dial back?

Here's a plausible scenario:

Whack job takes a gun and shoots up a polling place. Leaves notes/videos saying he's part of a group, there will be more such incidents, etc.

Rumors swirl in the media of people being sighted with guns near polling places; none of these are confirmed, but thanks to social media and "journalists" breathlessly reporting any gossip as news, fear spread rapidly.

Many stay home from the polls. Then whomever wins is deemed by the other side illegitimate, because of the voters frightened in to staying away (and that might actually be true).

There's your chaos scenario.

2012-11-02 10:45:08 AM
My worse case scenario:

There is a tie in the electoral college 269 to 269 and to decide once and for all who is POTUS, a battle breaks out between President Obama's FEMA Brownshirts and Mitt Romney's cyborg army. The real crisis comes when it turns out that the FEMA traliers are Transformers in disguise who are confused as to which side is really theirs, and the fate of the world depends on which side they decide to join.

They've already got incidents in two separate states where touchscreens allegedly turned votes for Romney into votes for Obama. At one of these polling places, a poll worker said "Oh, that machine has been acting up all day." Since one of the incidents was in Ohio, I don't see why the Republicans wouldn't make a big deal of this if Romney loses Ohio.

And, you know, if they used it as fuel for a push to mandate paper ballots, I would be behind it 100%.

But then, the company that sold the Ohio machines just pushed out an unapproved "experimental" software patch, so they've probably "fixed" this.

2012-11-02 10:54:11 AM
At 1 AM on November 7th, after the speeches, photo-ops, and champagne, the newly re-elected President Obama's countenance fell as he headed for the meeting he'd been dreading all evening. The few hours of elation from victory had been already been thoroughly tainted with apprehension, and now, with his family and most of his aides asleep, there were no more legitimate reasons to keep his master waiting.

After descending an elevator to a torchlit hallway deep below the White House, Obama quickly donned his cloak and ceremonial leather chaps before humbly approaching the sequened obelisk in president's true inner sanctum. Bowing deeply and making a swishing motion with his hand, the president waited in silence.

A faint purple light began to emanate from above the pinnacle of the obelisk, accompanied by a tiny puff of glitter. A disembodied voice oozed in from the glowing void beyond.

"So, it's done, my little mocha dreamboat?"

"Yes, master."

Though the means by which he communicated with his patron no longer shocked him, Obama couldn't help but feel a chill as a wind, smelling faintly of body oil and shiraz inexplicably washed into the chamber. The deep but effeminate voice spoke again.

"I've upheld my end of the bargain, sugar. I've given you more time to get things ready on your end, so I know you're not going to dissapoint me, mmm-kay?"

"Of course not, my lord. While the scrutiny of the righteous Christians prevented me from completing the subterranean homosexual temptation generators during my first term, they should be fully operational within a year. Soon, heterosexuality will be a distant memory, and your circle of hell will be brimming with millions of the gayest souls in history! Your victory against the forces of light is all but assured."

A bemused giggle came from the throbbing void.

"For your sake, I certainly hope so. It would be a shame if I had to take you over my knee and give you a spanking, you naughty, naughty president. Go now and make it happen. Toodles!"

The unnatural light vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving Obama alone in the dark. There was no turning back.

A rational party, would evaluate why they lost, what they could have done differently and what changes should be made, if any for the next cycle.

A rational party.
What did they GOP get out of the 2008 cycle? That a long primary season, like Obama vs Hillary, would be AWESOME!! What did they get in 2012? The anybody but Rmoney primary season. LOL

What would one rational interpretation of losing be? That radical right was not enough to win the election. Maybe it is time to move a bit toward the middle.

A split between the electoral and popular vote

Such an outcome would prompt some Republican outcry, but it probably won't be too loud: In 2000, after all, George W. Bush won the presidency despite losing the popular vote to Al Gore. What it would also potentially do is kick start a national conversation about whether it's time to effectively ditch the Electoral College.

Logic fail.

The Republican outcry "probably won't be too loud"? Then why would it "kick start a national conversation about whether it's time to effectively ditch the Electoral College"?

2012-11-02 12:23:00 PM
My favorite scenario thus far is somewhat far-fetched, but would at least be interesting.

(1) 269-269 electoral vote tie, in which all electors vote as anticipated in their respective states.
(2) House Republicans declare in advance of the January 6th joint session of Congress that Romney will be elected.
(3) House Democrats, reading the constitution, decide to boycott the vote, prohibiting the House from achieving the "2/3rds of all states" quorum requirement of the constitution for the House to select a President.
(4) Senate Republicans, upon learning what the House Democrats are up to, do likewise, ensuring that the Senate doesn't achieve the 2/3rds of all Senators quorum required to elect a Vice President.

...then...

(5A) January 20 comes without things being resolved. John Boehner is forced to resign as Speaker of the House and becomes Acting President; or
(5B) Boehner refuses to resign, whereupon Senate President Pro Tempore Daniel Inouye becomes Acting President; or... dare I give this possibility out to the "Hillaryis44" crowd...
(5C) Both Boehner and Inouye refuse to resign their Congressional seats, whereupon Secretary of State Hillary Clinton becomes Acting President.
