ltdanman44: It takes a truly courageous man to hunt helpless animals for pleasure.

Actually, you should be celebrating those people, that is, if you like to have animals, and the habitat they live in preserved.

That's because sport hunters put their money where their muzzles are and actually *SPEND* real dollars, either directly through organizations like Ducks Unlimited and the Wildlife Conservancy to preserve and protect wildlife habitat, or indirectly through license fees and the Pittman-Robertson excise tax on guns, ammo, bows, etc.

People who enjoy hunting want to keep on doing it, and they want healthy populations of the kinds of animals they hunt. In preserving habitat for those animals, they also benefit non-game species that live in those same habitats.

All of the extinctions and near extinctions that have hunting at their cause have either been due to market hunting (hunting for a profit), or subsistence hunting (hunting purely for food). Regulated sport hunting generally leads to increases in game populations, not decreases.

Hunting would be so much more interesting if it was an equal battle. I'd actually watch those early morning hunting shows......especially man vs turkey
