I'm glad the marine clocked him, even if he was once in the army.

it's like a cop wearing his own uniform on halloween with bullet holes in his chest and head. that's just stupid, and very disrespectful.

/ posing as a wounded, disabled vet is not cool
// where can i contribute to defense fund?

Yeah disrespectful but by all means he has the right as a US citizen to wear this costume and not get assaulted by people that have sworn to protect him and this country.

Just as I have the right to think you are an asshat.

good day sir!

As a veteran myself, I'm going to have to guess that 1. Alcohol was (majorly) involved and 2. The Marine was of the junior paygrades.

Let's see how my predictions play out...

Because they fight to protect our freedom, including freedom of speech, and disrespecting them means you should be punished?
Depends on the nature of the disrespect...

Don't really care much for that Constitution, do ya?

Unless the guy was physically assaulting the Marine, there was no excuse for violence. In fact, were the Marine sill in the Corps, he'd be in deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep shiat for rouging up a townie over a costume.

The uniform does not give anybody the right to "punish" citizenry. Actions like this dishonor the uniform. The guy's a disgrace.

Normally I'd agree with this. But as a guy in a wheel chair he has to integrate the chair into his costume or people get confused. "A disabled vampire? I don't get it." "No, I'm a regular vampire I just happen to be disabled." So his choices are pretty much limited to disabled vet or Stephen Hawking, and he probably didn't have a Speak-n-Spell available.

Marine "Chaplin" s is not normally possible. The United States Navy Chaplain Corps normally provides chaplins for the marines.

Jarheads don't have medics. They have Squid Corpsmen.

Good job 1derful, that's two of em

That is not something a Marine does - they have more self-control," Priotti said.

This guy has apparently known much higher quality Marines than I have met.

Who the fark cares whether he was disabled in action or after leaving the service? Does it really matter?

It's a farking halloween costume! I think some of you idiots need a "lighten up, Francis" coffee mug by your computers.

A) As one guy already pointed out, there are limited costume options for a guy in a wheelchair.

B) What costume isn't offensive or disrespectful to someone out there? Sorry, that hot girl can't be a sexy nurse for halloween, since that is disrespectful to hard working nurses out there. Sorry, you can't wear a priest costume, since that is offensive to altar boys who were raped by them. Sorry, you can't be Freddy Kruger or Michael Myers, since that is offensive to the victims of actual mass murdering psychopaths. Sorry, you can't be Ponch from CHiPs, since that is disrespectful to the men who keep our highways safe (that one might already be protected by law). Sorry, you can't be a zombie, since that is offensive to the people who got their faces chewed off by people on bath salts. Sorry, that hot girl can't wear a sexy angel costume, since that is offensive to Christians.

I once rented a wheelchair and bought an old army uniform and bandana to be Tom Cruise from Born on the Fourth of July. I also grew out a scraggly beard like he had at one point in the movie. I'm glad I didn't go through with that costume (I didn't want to make my sexy-angel friend have to push me around all night), since I might have been beaten up for it.

Maybe this guy should go beat up Tom Cruise for wearing a costume and impersonating a veteran who was injured in the war. It is very disrespectful to wear costumes like that.

I'm glad somebody else thinks the wheelchair vet's costume was disrespectful, but I also still think the other Marine is also a douchebag in this situation. You don't get to hit somebody just because you don't like what they're doing. You're the adult, act like it.

Okay fellow vets, show of hands, who thinks the uniform is an apropiate holloween costume?

Also, Priotti served a whole two years in the Army, and apparently was not in the Army when paralyzed.
From the moment a person is sworn in, they will be a veteran when they leave the service. Doesn't matter how long or what they did in the service. Thirty days of thirty years.
Maybe some Army people can tell me about two year soldiers. In the Navy they are usaualy unfit for service.

I'm not a vet, but I do not think this guy (whose injuries occurred outside of military service) should be wearing a [defaced] uniform for Halloween, it is disrespecful to the men and women who ARE injured in service to the U.S., not a joke.

I'm not a cheerleader, but I do not think any women (whose violent murder occured outside of the reenactment of a campy horror movie) should be dressed up as a sexy zombie cheerleader for Halloween, it is disrespectful to the women who ARE murdered by ax wielding maniacs in service to giving 50 year old men chubs between halves of a football game, not a joke.

Yes, thank God there are drunken former Marines to save us from the scourge of offensive halloween shenanigans.

Lighten up.

As a disabled vet I think it's pretty damn funny that another disabled vet dressed up as a wounded soldier for halloween. He wore a uniform for this country once and has every right to poke fun at the military.

There was no defense of country here. It was simply a (mistakenly) perceived insult to his Marineness.
