We did 33 spay and neuters today and I can definately tell, my butt is dragging! We got some cuties up for adoption now though. I'mm have to see if I can get a pic of the one girl tomorrow night when I go in to volunteer. She has the strangest markings around her nose and mouth, it makes it look puckered, like she was chewing on a lemon or something. Its just so adorable!

AlienDandelion: I did manage to go to a pretty unique restaurant for a friend's Young Day before this all hit.
It's a restaurant where the servers are all legally blind and you are taken into the place and seated and served and you eat - everything in complete darkness.
I have to say I quite enjoyed the experience and it was a lot of fun actually too trying to figure out where everything was ect.

I think I've heard of that place...

Been Trying to Edit again. Actually, more like Printing A Bunch & Trying to do the Directory for the women's radio gp. Got all the PDFs out yesterday (b'lieve I fed in something about the Time Change special event station in Chillicothe last eve while it was still running). Then realised I'd forgotten 1 very important thing, a Hamfest in Ft Wayne IN that one of our Associates will be conducting a forum for at mid month. Sent that on afterward, as well as the Directory in an Excel file. I do swear, my mind's going now that I'm Officially Old.
Alien Dandelion, presume/hope you're feeling better now than last eve.

Speaking of ThePuceGuardian, he did Furry The Queen Mum a while back. Can't say where or how I got the idea that he may live out on the Left Coast -- do know that's where captain feedback is.
Hopes too for pg 13 to be at least somewhat Lucky --
Have more entry relocation to do on the Directory. Subscribers, of which there are a bunch & luckily all of those have e-mail, had been stuck in every which way with no system a-tall.

spinach gunk: Oh my goodness, look who Buddy and I found in the cherry tree just now!
Two fuzzy little babby raccoons!!!
When they heard us coming they ran way up high into the tree. But not too far up for the camera flash.
A weird time of year for babies... but there they were.

This one was very chatty, wouldn't stop chirrupping away to his brother, I think he felt very scared.

[i870.photobucket.com image 480x640]

[i870.photobucket.com image 507x640]

Here is the second one. This is looking directly straight up overhead! Couldn't take his eyes off me. He was petrified. But SO CUTE.

[i870.photobucket.com image 480x640]

Luckily Buddy couldn't see them, only smell them, otherwise there would have been some serious neighbour-waking barking! And terrified baby raccoons.

They were OK. Their mama wasn't far away. We went back inside before she could make our acquaintance though.

Whew! That was fun. OK I can go to bed now. :)

Hahahahh!!!

It's good to see you AlienDandelion!

I would like to take this time to thank ALL who have sent hugs, comfort, condolences, sympathy and kind words to Mr. micromedic and I. You ALL have made a difference in our sudden loss of Zoey. I genuinely have no idea how I would make it through these times and, well, life in general without you (collective). I didn't take notes as I have been a bit distracted, and I am genuinely sorry. Know that each word has a special place in my broken heart and will be kept there to heal the wounds. Thank you. Thank you all so very much!

kokomo61: Shill post coming up -

My son, Jamie, is HFA (High-Functioning Autism), and was diagnosed @ age 3 as 'severely' autistic. At the time, we were told that he wouldn't go to school, wouldn't ride a bike, woudn't hold normal conversations, yadda, yadda, yadda. Well, at 17, he's turned out to be quite the amazing young man. He's a junior in HS, a straight-A student, not only rides a bike, but drives (better than his mother) has completed 3 century (100-mile+) bike rides, and is about the most social kid you'll run in to. He's also a Life Scout, working on his Eagle project, which is to raise awareness, collect supplies and raise donations for the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART), a 501 (c) (3) no-kill animal rescue / support group. Jamie's been the one who's picked out all our current rescues (two cats and a dog), and he wants to give back by helping HART.

This is Jamie:

These are our current rescued resident / owners Molly, Tobe and Daisy. Daisy doesn't quite count as a real dog, so she is treading (ever so lightly) on Caturday turf.

....and here are some of the current kitties at HART that are looking for homes:

Jamie's doing a local supply drive for the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART), but I also wanted to reach out to FARK to challenge them to help, too. If you'd like to help, please consider donating to HART.

You can donate via PayPal or J ...

Please allow this Alien to extend her warmest wishes, her biggest bow and kudos and gratitude to your son - for not only doing so much to help but for standing up and proving everyone who thought he would never be able to do anything. Makes my heart sing and gives me a happy :D

gremlin1: Diogenes: akimbotoo: They do sound like amazing cats. I have two Bengals and an ex-feral fluffy cat, and all 3 fetch! The Bengal boys will drop the ball 2 feet to 8 feet away and expect you to get up and grab it to throw it for them! The ex-feral fluffy girl will bring the ball and drop it in your hand!

I didn't want a cat. I rescued Cyd from the wild when I first moved to Orlando. I was waiting to get settled and get a dog. I always had big dogs. Never a cat. So when I was raising Cydney I treated her like a dog. She fetches, too. The best are the plastic rings (must be unbroken) from jars like sunflower seeds. I roll them, she grabs them, and brings them back to do again.

The nearest Gremie comes to acting like a dog is when he is not where I can see him. He will come when he's called. I yell "Gremie,Gremie,Gremie," and he will come to where ever I am. It must be yelled 3 times or he won't show up. Once he came running up from the basement covered in cobwebs with a look on his face like "this better be important".

HAhahahahha!!!!
hahaha!!!!
I can just so easily imagine that!

STORY TIME

So. My friend Cathy whose neighbor is the one who took Gremlin in - likes to have Gremlin
over regularly for play dates with her two big black cats Bruce and Bella.
Bruce has been stuck in the house more lately due to getting into a tiff with another cat
and a bite got infected so he was on medication and feeling sorry for himself he could not
go running about outside with Bella.
Over Gremlin came, trotting ever so daintily down the steps, across the little path and up her steps looking
over his shoulder to Lorna and chatting away as if he was telling her he was going over to play
at Cathys house and would be back later :3

Cathy works at home so she was on a call with one of her clients when she heard the start.
GALLUMP GALLUMP GALLUMP... CRASH!
something got knocked over upstairs.
THIMP THUMP GALLUMP THUMPTHUMPTHUMP - CRASH!!!
she covered her phone and yelled to them: Boys! quit knocking things down up there!!!
THUMP THUMP TINK TINK THIMP scratch GALLUMP GALLUMP THUMP THUMP - CRASH!!!
GUYS!!! dont make me come up there! - Cathy yelled again.
dead silence.
still no sound.
So she continues talking on the phone when she heard a herd of elephants come
thumping down the stairs and then Bella giving a warning and then silence.

BANG!!!!!

Cathy drops the phone, goes running like mad into the living room...
to see one of her really heavy chairs knocked flat onto its back...
with Bella staring at her, Bruce staring at Gremlin and Gremlin staring at the wall :3
hahahahahah!!!!
Apparently the boys were chasing Bella and she jumped off the chair just as they hit it and with both
the boys weighing over 15 lbs they knocked the heavy chair right over! O_O
hahahaha!!!
She said once her heart started beating again she told Gremlin to go home and opened the door
to which he - with tail straight up - chattily told Bruce and Bella he had fun and would be back and walked back over to his house, turned and said bye and went inside!

oh gods how I laughed - I can totally picture the fluffy heffalump doing that! ;3
fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net
old picture but that was day I came home from a big surgery - he would not leave my side hahah!

akimbotoo: tigerose: All Hallows Eve

On All Hallows Eve,
We go bump in the night.
Eager to give you a fright!

Wind blows to power my broom
Glide easily in the gloom.

At my back a feline looms,
Seer of  doom.

Fair of fur,
Diens to purr.

Feels the wind upon it's back,
Feels not the lack,

Of ordinary nights.

Above the planet we do ride,
All the rules this night abide.

Wicked winds, take in our stride!
We ride, ever mindful of our pride.

Spirits glide in or wake,
Thirst this night to slake.

Mortality no longer stake
Eternity their own to make.

As we will, so shall it be,
Remembering the rule of Three.
Blessed Be.

tigerose 11/4/12

Lovely, as usual! Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful gift! ((hugs))

Very nice! Good Samhain, Happy Halloween, and Blessed Be!

A very late good Caturday to everyone! I'm glad to hear that most folks in the areas hit by Sandy are checking in okay. We here in FL only got a bit of wind and rain. So sad to see all of the destruction and suffering.
And {hugs} to those who've lost kitties this week.

akimbotoo: Diogenes: laulaja: diogenes, coming condolences for Cydney. Pls love her/him AMAP (As Much As Possible) while you still can.

It's all I can do. It's especially hard because there's nothing that clearly says "it's time to make that horrible decision." The vet has been very supportive. But I appreciate it! She's very special to me.

Matticus: He's the sweetest boy. Very curious and playful. Very affectionate. Loves people and will curl up next to anyone. If I get after him for doing something bad, he'll go in the other room and cry until I call him over and forgive him. He has two littly w00t monkeys that, in his mind, have to be together. If I put them in different places in the house, he'll have them together somewhere else by the time I get home.

I may have to take the plunge when it's time. That sounds so sweet! And smart. Like a dog-cat.

They do sound like amazing cats.

I was going to say Gremlin started doing that to me when Ben Hurr developed his bedtime routine of going for a long drink of water - but cause of his flat face he always soaked his entire face, running up to me and giving me wet kitten face kisses and cuddles before settling down. Gremlin saw this and thought he would take it a step further by taking his favorite squishy sparkly ball someone here sent the boys, dunking it in the water, slapping me in the face with it and played fetch for as long as I was awake hahaha!
boys.

There was one at some point, but I don't remember who was keeping it.

Shaaaark!

Sheba...kinda a joke..cause she needs a Bath...sheba....:)

I was thinking Dee, because she likes Chef Boyardee.

Ooh! I love it! :D

yobbery: StranahansBarracuda: yobbery: StranahansBarracuda: (snip)Yes, at minimum you should turn off the valve and run it until it stops. Since generators are seldom used, and when you need them you REALLY need them the best thing to do is follow the storage instructions ...

Awesome! I would follow the manual, however the reason Dad got it so cheap ($350) was it was missing the key, the feet, and the owners manual. It took 8 phone calls to get a key and feet, but I think Dad got a link to the owners manual online. I just don't have the link. It's a Black Max with a Honda engine.

Find the model number and clickey here for Black Max owner's manuals and other stuff

OlderGuy: StranahansBarracuda: (snip) I wasn't sure what to do when the power came back on so I just turned it off (tank is almost empty.) So now should I start it up, then turn off the fuel valve and let it run until it stops?

I would suggest that.. it will ensure that you don't have a clogged carburetor to deal with at an inopportune time.. also, most of my folks, come spring, will siphon the leftover gas into the lawnmower, and ...

I know the gas can go bad, but come spring emptying that will be the snowbirds job :)

Thank you so much for the advice!!

tigerose: Any one know where ThePuceGuardian calls home? Would he have been effected by Hurricane Sandy? I hope he is safe...

No hurricanes, just a blowhard. One of the riders of Brohan tried to start a fight in a Starbuck's of all places. I just walked away as he was shouting his 'fark you!'s at my back.

Actually it was rather jarring. I'm browsing tasers and mace on Amazon now.
