FTFA: Both candidates had eagerly sought the nod from Bloomberg, who didn't endorse a presidential candidate in 2008 and has publicly grumbled about both Obama and Romney.

ONE hot summer's day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. "Just the things to quench my thirst," quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure they are sour."

I'm sure you don't care, but Bloomberg's decision to believe that global warming is a significant political issue to base his endorsement on has very little to do with Hurricane Sandy. The Bloomberg Philanthropies Foundation has spent years trying to push programs for the reduction of greenhouse gases throughout the world.

Bloomberg is trying to use the increased attention related to all these events to try to pressure Obama into pursuing environmental issues in his second term. I honestly doubt he will though; it's a waste of too much political capital for an issue that frankly Americans don't care about when the economy isn't great. If the economy accelerates we might see Democrats dip their toes in the water, but I doubt this issue will get the attention its proponents think it deserves.

Well, that was a silly headline for a significant Obama endorsement.

Bloomberg explained why President Obama deserves another term. The guy is rich as Croesus and can't be bought, unlike pundits as David Brooks at the NYT who gave the foolish "Romney can work with contemptible Republicans in Congress" argument.

Actually, Romney won't work with them, he will work for them. As Grover Norquist says, all Romney needs to do is be able to hold a pen, I'll tell him what to sign.

The precious snowflake you mention is one of the primary economic engines of this country.

The GDP of NYC is $1,280.5 BN. Ranked against countries, it has the 14th highest GDP in the world, beating out nations such as the Netherlands, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.

So when flooding from rising rising sea levels knockout power to everything below Chelsea, completely cripple mass transit in the metro area, and flood almost all of the tunnels between Manhattan and Long Island, that affects every American in this nation.

Get a farking clue.

Now we are supposed to feel sorry for the financial sector?

Can you break the gdp down by sector or industry after you remove the 1%s balls from your chin?

Obviously the 3.1 million people in Manhattan during the day are all working in the financial sector (at night the island's population is only 1.6 million).

I imagine if NYC's GDP counted all the money "made" on wall street, they'd be second only to the united states as a whole.

Some of the other exchanges are huge, such as London.

The NYC economy is actually quite diverse.

Bizarre random fact about its economy: the city exports over $200 million in chocolate annually -- a lot of things are still actually manufacture in New York.
