I work with her landlord. She's not very popular around town right now. She might have to move far away, and probably will after the upcoming basketball party.

Coelacanth: Heliodorus: You could have ended the story there and we could have guessed the rest.

This was the sixties. If it wasn't for the nasty neighbors and the bully that lived down the street, it would've been paradise for me as a kid. Take Halloween for example. We were maybe the last best place for homemade treats until people started getting stupid after that creep killed his own son with a poisoned Pixie Stik and tried to pin it on his neighbors so he could collect on a million dollar insurance policy.

The beach was only a few blocks away, and so was the Colorado Lagoon, where sometimes you could go digging for the only cherrystone clams on the west coast. The Carpenters used to have a safehouse the next street down, and Karen Carpenter used to leave cat food out for all of the neighborhood strays.

In the alley behind our house we had a guy who was an honest-to-God oceanographer who kept a two-man submarine on a trailer. I used to spend hours staring into the portholes looking for ????. Further down the alley, some hippies were running an underground newspaper from out of their garage. Once in awhile, I'd walk by on my way home from school and catch them photographing their next adult portfolio. The old bat next door never bothered them because the female models swore that they'd break up her marriage if she did.

I have some pretty bad memories about Long Beach. But I have a few good ones too.

That actually sounds like an awesome childhood.

Don't take my post the wrong way. I spent a lot of time growing up all around the greater LA area so I've seen the better and worse sides the county can offer. I was just trying to have some fun with someone who can relate.

/For everyone else, Long Beach as a good side and a bad side.

KrispyKritter: DarkSoulNoHope: Don't worry, it's $25,000 in Canadian dollars. That's only worth $100 US, right?!

USA 1.00 = CA 0.99656 today, but it's in Monopoly money

/ for reference

I think I need to fix your sarcasm detector.

I've broken a window with a basketball before and I wasn't trying to, so it certainly is possible.

/She's still a moron.

BarleyGnome: I bought a townhouse next to some renters who cannot walk up and down the stairs without sounding like they are stomping. Two teenaged boys who run up and down at all hours of the night, and the parents don't do anything about it..

It's called common courtesy.. If they had to build a wall to protect her window, it means that the noise it right outside her window..

I think she should just move. I don't agree with a law suit, but I understand where she's coming from.

Yeah the problem is generally people are just too self-centered to put up with any noise from neighbours.

If you don't want noise, you are the one who has to deal with that. Excessive noise is one thing, walking up and down the stairs is another. I highly doubt they were stomping. It was too noisy for you? Your problem, they're just using the space they rented.

LavenderWolf: Excessive noise is one thing, walking up and down the stairs is another. I highly doubt they were stomping.

I used to live in an apartment with metal stairs outside. The metal would amplify the noise, so even normal walking was loud inside my unit. Luckily, the dude in the neighboring unit who shared the stairs with me didn't go in and out much, so it wasn't an issue. If it were a family with kids instead, I probably would have broken my lease and moved.
