I'd say that list is pretty solid actually...

Magruda:

Psych 101, I may have gotten it wrong in that complete empathy is genius level, or something like that.

And you mom has 67 protons.

Ah, never took any psych.

I thought I was rather polite, and you still call my Mom a Ho...

I'm with you guys, this guy just HATES Silent Bob. Not only did Smith 'make it' but hell, he did a wonderful job bringing it back to his fans. He does like 5? Podcasts...he still has a talk tour (it ain't no Q&A, but his stories are funny to me).

Haters gon' hate.

All he did was science. I blame her pimp.

Teufelaffe: Mike Chewbacca: factoryconnection: enderthexenocide: that asshole from the big bang theory should be #1. he is exactly the kind of antisocial, borderline-autistic freak that average folks imagine that all "nerds" act like. he is the worst possible stereotype of nerd culture.

Chuck Lorrie can say that Sheldon isn't an Aspie all he wants, but the guy isn't just a self-centered jerk. He legitimately displays little to know need for nor understanding of emotional connection beyond coddling from his mother. He has just about no empathy. That behavior is disordered.

Furthermore, I think Howard is a worse bag of stereotypes than Sheldon. All the Jewish stereotypes, the objectification of women, the cluelessness with his mode of dress and decorum, and although it is a positive one, it is stereotypical that the only engineer in the group is the one with common sense.

The whole show is an abomination of stereotypes. Every single character is a stereotype. It's just bad TV.

And I feel the need to point out that yes, Hodges is a geek, but so is Liz Vassey's character. She and Hodges bonded over their geekery when they had to investigate a murder at Not-ComicCon. So the article ignored the hottie geek in favor of the jerk geek.

/I actually really like Hodges. He's my favorite character on the show.

THIS THIS THISITY THIS

As far as I could tell from watching a few episodes, the Big Bang Theory is 30 minutes of "geek" stereotypes and an annoying laugh track.

Look, Sheldon had no inter-personal skills...ISN'T THAT FUNNY!? *cue laugh track*
Look, Howard lives with his mother...ISN'T THAT FUNNY!? *cue laugh track*
Look, Raj is nervous around women....ISN'T THAT FUNNY!? *cue laugh track*
Look, Penny, the "normal" girl, is bored and confused by "geek things"...ISN'T THAT FUNNY!? *cue laugh track*

Look, Penny is a pretty small-town girl from the Midwest waitressing while she tries to make it big in Hollywood... ISN'T THAT FUNNY?!
Look, Leonard is a whiny little git who pines after the pretty but stupid girl next door instead of going after someone he can have an intelligent conversation with... ISN'T THAT FUNNY?!
Look, Howard's mom is an overbearing Jewish harpy... ISN'T THAT FUNNY!?

Harbinger of the Doomed Rat: Teufelaffe: Magruda: Teufelaffe: As far as I could tell from watching a few episodes, the Big Bang Theory is 30 minutes of "geek" stereotypes and an annoying laugh track.

Very insightful, considering it's filmed in front of a live studio audience.

You know how I know that you don't know how "filmed in front of a live studio audience" shows work? They film a given scene multiple times, keeping the take that they like the best, while using the "biggest" audience laugh from the different takes. In addition, if the director(s) don't feel any of the laughs they have for a scene are good enough, they've been known to "enhance" or add pre-recorded laugh tracks.

Short version: You're adorable if you think "filmed in front of a live studio audience" and "has a laugh track" are mutually exclusive.

Don't be too hard on the folks who make TBBT...it's an even shiattier show without the laugh track.

You're right. It's really, really bad and unfunny without the laugh track.

Reading those comments it like going to a Michael Vick dog show.

MayoSlather: Agreed dummy. Lemon a geek fo sho.

What I hate is the weak-ass justification for why she's bad - she's not "a good person"

Uh, yeah, nerds are just normal people. Sometimes we're pretty shiatty. Sometimes we're funny or clever. That makes it a pretty fair portrayal of, you know, human beings.

Every single geek on "Big Bang Theory" is a terrible stereotype of geeks. I'd say "offensive", but that word should remain reserved for actual offenses that can cause actual physical or emotional damage.

They all perpetuate the theory that geeks are not only incapable of communicating with women, but with any normal human about anything other than their field of expertise, or their particular pop culture obsessions.

The fact that it's so popular with so many self-described geeks just makes me sad. But Chuck Lorre is the king of playing to the lowest common denominator. Asshole.

sure haven't: ftfa:
"the Comic Book Guy was meant to parody geeks and ended up misrepresenting them to the world for over 20 years."

Uh, no, it's actually pretty accurate.
Seems like the author tends to think life is like a movie and all "nerds" are really good looking dudes underneath. Don't believe me? Spend an hour at comicon and get back to me.

Also, Comic Book Guy's name is Jeff Albertson. He has a name now, please use it.

Make me.

Mid_mo_mad_man: I like Kevin Smith. So it really bugs me that the list writer claims he can't write a comic. I mean wtf? Did he not read his guardian devil storyline for DareDevil? Best DD story ever

Did he ever finish Black Cat?

Agreed. I have posted on Facebook how awfully BBT depicts geeks, only to have numerous geek friends rally to BBT's defense, even after I say "They're not laughing with you, they're laughing at you."

Yup, Big Bang Theory & The IT crowd: Lowest common denominator class attempts at humour that any genuine self-respecting geek shuns by instinct. Pretty much any show that has to include an audience's laugh (canned or 'lve') is covering for some unfunny reaches at the low hanging fruit. Did Monty Python include a laugh track? How about Futurama? Nope.

Yeah, Futurama was really ground-breaking as an animated show that didn't feature a laugh track.

/They would've broadcast it live, but it's a terrible strain on the animators' wrists.

Worst top ten list ever? Is there actually a top ten list of the top ten worst top ten lists?
