Who is willing to grab a shot of the phantom fire face that appeared?

Gee, I wonder what's going to happen to all those leftover unsold pumpkins at the supermarket...

No, subby. That is not the wrong way to carve a pumpkin. That is the *best* way to carve a pumpkin.

I wonder how dangerous/safe this is? I have a kid that would love to explode a pumpkin.

When I'm demonstrating explosives for a live audience, I always make sure that untrained participants in close proximity to the explosion have no protective eyewear whatsoever. It's more lulzy that way.

Well played, Fail Nye the 'Splodey Guy. Well played.

The standard method is to put some calcium carbide in some water inside the pumpkin which then produces acetylene gas which you then spark ignite.

That google search turns up lots of safety tips but of course you can explode one in a dangerous fashion.

Get a model rocket launch kit, specifically the igniters and power supply, and you can fill with gas and then wait until you're a safe distance to blast it electronically.

Always makes me warm and fuzzy when the 'ol hometown makes it on to Fark. It's like I can say, "See what I had to put up with?" Also, I'm not entirely sure this wasn't a Halloween "trick." People always forget about the tricks.

That slo-mo video is great. The change in his expression from smiling to "oh sheeeeit" ... gotta give the guy props for immediately trying to put a positive spin on it. "OK, we blew up the whole thing! Pretty cool!"
