Alternative perspective:

If you go to Disneyland, you can punch Jar Jar Binks in the face.

Attendance will double.

They'd probably only have them in Hollywood Studios, though. They tend to not touch Magic Kingdom with tangential properties. Although Galactus amidst the stars in Space Mountain would be cool

Whatever, as long as they have some sort of Star Wars area built onto Disney World in Orlando so that I can walk on the bridge of a Star Destroyer or the Mos Eisley cantina, I will be happy to fork out the thousands of dollars to drag my kid there.

I disagree subby. I think if there is one group who knows how to quietly euthanize an unpopular or dated character, it's Disney.

i.e. Crows from Dumbo, Roger Rabbit

My first thought as well. Disneyland is where everyone's dreams come true.

So, I'm guessing you havent been on the new Star Tours yet....

Also, and interesting angle that I just thought of the other day: this gives Disney tons of leverage over Fox. Sell us back X-Men and Fantastic Four and we'll cut you in on the distribution of future Star Wars films.

No, I have.

I just want more Star Wars rides.

No, they won't. They have Star Tours at Hollywood Studios and have been doing Star Wars-themed things and Star Wars Weekends for years and years and I have yet to see Jar Jar or anyone else in a parade on Main Street. There is already a metric ton of cross-over merchandise with Disney characters dressed up as Star Wars characters. As far as I can tell, the only real change this makes is that it opens the door for new films. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing, but either way, we won't know until they actually make them.

"Left?"

When did they have any in the first place?

I guarantee that Disney will announce a Star Wars world expansion to one of their parks to compete with Harry Potter world at Universal Studios.

They have had a Star Wars training academy for years.

I'm pretty much a die-hard Star Wars geek, and going to Star Wars Weekends a few years back in Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios was one of the greatest geek events I've ever been to. Sharing it with my then 8 year old kid (who also loves Star Wars) was fabulous. If they do open a full-time "Star Wars World" complete with a cantina bar, I'll be there the first month it opens.

/ Anyone who thinks Disney can't do Star Wars better than Lucas hasn't been paying attention to the changes to the way Disney operates the last 10 years.

// I'm even more geeked at the idea that ILM and Skywalker Sound might be teaming up with Disney Imagineering in theme park development. Could be amazing.

Perhaps Disney should consult with all of the Lucas-Raped-My-Childhood people before proceeding further with any Star Wars related business.

Because consulting with a franchise's fans worked so well for Star Trek.

Could you imagine if they charged $10/punch? They'd make the cost of buying LucasFilm back in a month

My personal wish is that they have Jar Jar Binks being punched in the face by Chewbacca during the entire parade...then afterward you can get your picture taken with Chewy.

In Florida; The big problem is if they'd add a new ticketed land; or expand the Studios (which really needs more attractions). If you look at Google Maps for the studio see where S Tours is; they'd probably have to move a parking lot that's behind "Star Tours' to keep that attraction going in place and open up that parking lot for development because it's pretty much shut off on the Star Tours side...except for that nice big parking lot that's boarded by other roads; which wouldn't be good in the long run.
But then you'd run the risk of having the studios just too dang big for decent foot traffic without some trollies or something to move people.

If they think long term---and I'm sure they are--they'd probably make the Star War Land a separate gated park with lots of room for expansion in decades to come and probably ditch or move star tours when that opens. But I can certainly see them putting a Cantina near S Tours in the near future until a new park is ready.

Oh, who cares. Jar Jar will be there to greet the little kids.

They'll probably have storm troopers and Darth Vader walking around too so it's all good.
