"His improvements include..."

Destroying any value the desk might have actually had.

Are those turnbuckles placed around the legs?

Way to make something cool and historic entirely about yourself.

/seriously doubts the desk's provenance

In an effort to restore a dead piece of furniture, they manage to create a gruesome caricature of a desk. It seems a fitting tribute.

Wow were those skulls and bones original? Doubtful, which in my eyes, decreases the value to ZERO. Whoever buys this has more money than sense.

legs that had been sawed off....

I'd rather have a wooden stake made from Bram Stoker's original desk leg than this Franklin-Mint-esque refurbished desk.

I said the exact same thing! What the fark is up with those gaudy pulls, bone claw footed leg extenders and bones lining the frame? It's ghastly!

That's what I was thinking. Owning Bram Stoker's actual desk might be cool. But this is pretty much to the point where it is a completely different piece of furniture made from the wood that once formed Bram Stoker's desk.

I would hardly call what was done to that desk "restoration." Even for a Baroque piece it's overwrought.

It's not too bad. Drill a couple holes in there to run cables, and it'd make a workable computer desk.

my wife inherited a old mf'ing table from her grandmother, which is probably at least 100 years old. We refinished it as a project, it looks great.

So you're saying the desk died and came back as something different?

Well the tree died and came back a desk. I am not sure what this thing is.

So, did he restore it or not? Either he fixed the damage and made it like it originally was or he didn't. There's no "I restored it, except for these bats and shiat I put on it."

It is possible to determine exactly how old her grandmother is.
