In Cincinnati, where I'm from, they generally just give you a ticket or don't even bother. Though, some of the small township cops might harass you.

Here they'll likely arrest you immediately if you admit it. And then you're at the mercy of whether your judge is an asshole or not. And your arrest and the reason for it go in the local newspaper, for everyone to see, which is great if you don't mind your employer, coworkers and family seeing.
Even if it doesn't end up there, it is public record, which is free to view online here, so if you get arrested or go to court anyone can see it if they look it up.
So yeah. being up front, probably not a good idea, unless you don't worry about employment or anyone knowing about it.

Hearing this stuff makes me so glad I live in Colorado. I might be even more glad in less than a week!

Yeah until the Feds crack down on the fun.

Good luck with that. There aren't enough DEA agents to enforce the federal law. We repealed alcohol prohibition before the feds and so did a bunch of other states. They weren't able to drop the hammer then and won't be able to now. They haven't really touched our already existing dispensaries except for about 60 that were too close to schools according to them. Some of those closed, some simply moved, but that's about the extent of the crackdown on our already medically legal cannabis market. We've had pot stores here for ~4 years now and people here realize that the sky didn't fall and nothing bad came of it at all.

Those cops were coming inside regardless. The guy probably saved himself the trouble of having his entire apartment torn apart.

As a person who has been visited by the police for burning marijuana in an apartment (more than once) you are correct.
If you make it difficult for a cop to do their job, they will make it difficult for you.

Nah, not gonna happen. Quite simply the fed doesn't have the resources to chase down people who are smoking the ganj and not bothering anyone else.

If you were, don't lie about it either and say you weren't. In many states it's illegal to lie to an officer investigating a "crime". It's best to say, "I respectfully decline to answer your question on principle."

The scary thing about cocaine for me is I've had multiple people tell me more or less the same thing: You never stop doing cocaine because you had enough cocaine. You only stop because you run out.

I want to add that I get very confused when people act like San Jose is somehow conservative and people compare it to the OC. It makes me wonder what reality they live in. Just because it's not SF doesn't mean it's right wing in any way. I believe SJ has some of the most weed clubs per capita in CA and based on personal experience, the coppers don't care about small amounts of marijuana. I do have a medical card though, but even before that they didn't care.

I won't argue that - back in my cocaine days, I never found myself putting any away in the cupboard for the next day...

"You never stop doing cocaine because you had enough cocaine. You only stop because you run out."
That describes it perfectly, and is exactly why I swore it off years ago - the wanting at the end of the experience far outweighs the pleasure of the initial experience, and the neurochemical spike is followed by a valley of equivalent depth the next day.

"What is marijuana, officer? I've never heard of it. Come in? Certainly, if you have a warrant. No? Then have a nice day."

You don't think big tobacco would be completely behind legalization? Cigarette smoking has been on a decline for years. They can see their customer base dwindling. They already have the marketing knowhow and distribution in place if marijuana becomes legal - they just start pumping out packs of joints alongside cigarettes.

This.

CSB: A buddy of mine was driving a commercial vehicle on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, which he did not realize is illegal. The park police (federal) pulled him over and detected the aroma of the ganj. The cop informed him that commercial vehicles were not permitted on the BW parkway, then asked him if he had been toking up. My buddy said yes. The cop asked if there was any pot or paraphernalia in the van. My buddy replied yes. The cop asked to see it, my buddy got it and handed it to him. The cop asked my buddy if he would like to avoid a pot charge, to which he obviously replied yes. The cop made him smash his bowl on the side of the street, kept the pot, and sent him on his way with no tickets.

There are a lot of people who would smoke MJ if it were legal, but who presently abstain (probably most because of the worry about losing their jobs if they were caught or if they fail a random drug test). I think a lot of them would go for the convenient OTC pack of joints from Philip Morris.

Right now you can go to a specialty tobacco shop, buy loose tobacco and roll your own, but think about how few do that compared to buying premade cigs.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of circumcisions are performed on babies, so that whole virgin angle is already covered. That seems to be the preferable way to do it - no one is going to remember a bit of pain from infancy, but having your foreskin cut off after puberty couldn't be a pleasant experience.
