I am still shocked that you're volunteering for the Obama campaign. Am I right in thinking that it's not so much that you've changed, but that Romney, and the current GOP, are just that terrible?

the Republicans really are that bad. I believe them when they say that they intend to govern the country via 'biblical principal'. In effect, the GOP plans to run this country as a theocracy....and I do not want to live in a theocratic society. I don't want to run even the RISK of living in that sort of society. So I've no choice but to vote Democrat.

Weaver95: quite simply, this sort of tactic is sheer desperation. Look, the Obama campaign has had us phone banking and canvassing doors since mid september. every day we narrow down the phone lists, screening out GOP voters and focusing on getting undecideds to switch votes to Obama and getting the Democratic voters to commit to voting on election day. that's a LOT of work but we're almost to the point where our call lists are around 90%-ish accurate and up to date. so we're not wasting time/effort phone blasting to people who aren't going to vote OR who are gonna vote Republican.

Then along comes this mass txt phone blast from the Romney campaign. if they're sending text messages to people who aren't Republicans then that tells me they're working off VERY inaccurate voter lists. they haven't put in the time and effort to narrow down their voter rolls, organize people to get Republicans to the polls on election day. it's sloppy and they're paying the price for NOT building an effective campaign organization down on the ground where it matters. they needed to be doing that work over a month ago if they planned to be ready for election day/go time.

Massive storm on the east coast. Disney making new Star Wars films. Weaver95 campaigning for a Democrat.

Looks like the Mayans were right.

monoski: //Except that Biden BS, but I don't vote for VP's or I would have abstain this year as they are both dolts

Whenever I see someone parroting the mainstream media notion that Biden is an idiot, it's a dead giveaway as to how stupid the poster in question actually is.

Pff. Put Anonymous on the case.

Weaver95, I have been thinking more and more about getting involved with helping a campaign out; if I were to want to get involved the next election cycle, how should I go about doing so? Or... living in Texas should I just give it up as a lost cause until changing demographics start to even things out?

it is NEVER too late to start, nor is it pointless. find the local Democratic party HQ for your district and head down there and say you want to help with GOTV. believe me, they'll appreciate the help!

While we don't yet have flying cars, we can't cure brain swelling without cutting into the skull, and some people on this Earth still starve, I try to consider this era of 4g phones and tablet devices, fairly advanced medical care, increasingly more fuel efficient cars etc to be the pinnacle of human civilization. I can't complain having been born in this era.

But it's shiat like this, where human interaction has been lowered to monkies tossing turds at one another, coupled with the anti-science and my Jesus/Mohammad has a bigger peen than your prophet/God establishment that makes me realize we're still in the farking Dark Ages.

Stay classy people.

Hey, I'm part of the news! I recieved a message last night, so I KNOW they weren't doing their research. MD is far from a swing state and I'm one of the 95% of black people who voted for Obama. Not sure how they thought they would change my vote with that wack ass text. I got the one that said

"Obamacare is a $700 Billion gamble where Medicare recipients take the risk. Stop Obama!"

My response:

"Stop Obama from doing what? From helping you get affordable care? From killing Bin Laden? Don't spam my phone with this bullshiat. Obama 2012!"

"Voting for Obama means voting for same-sex marriage," I'm pro gay marriage.

"Obama stole $716 Billion in Medicare. We cant [sic] trust Obama to protect our seniors," GOP Lie

"Obama is using your tax dollars to fund Planned Parenthood and abortions. Is that right" I'm pro women's health and anti-abstinence faith based family planning.

"VP Biden mocks a fallen Navy Seal during memorial. Our military deserves better." GOP distortion of the truth

So lies and appeals to bible pounders.......does the GOP have nothing substantial?

Sorry Barry, you're goin down.

Probably desperate people and it was RNC spam, so....

The article doesn't state a source. Your link for it being RNC spam? Or is it pure conjecture like you always proffer?

i'm pretty sure that the Obama people aren't spamming text messages to get out the vote for Romney....c'mon dude. this is a last minute desperation tactic from Team Romney.

I got a text message to "pls vt Rmny on elctn day" and I have to say, it was very convincing. Romney really showed he can text message better than Obama. That's going to matter when Iran keeps calling us and giggling when America answers the phone, then hanging up. Romney would just text Iran about what a biatch she is and avoid war entirely. Thank you Romney for keeping us safe.

I don't think there was any, but I needed a way to make the headline come off as Republican so that was the easiest way

It's a sad day when you suspect it isn't the Republicans because it's not racist enough.

I wonder if the GOP understands that being annoying isn't going to help them very much on election day...

Actually I've been getting quite a bit of text spam from the Democrats and I don't remember giving out my new cell number on any websites. It's a little creepy.

weird. By now, the Democratic voter lists have weeded out the non-Democrat voters and are focused on democrats and undecideds. you didn't perhaps tell a Democratic phone bank that you were an undecided voter did you? that would get you put on the call back list for sure.
