Good god people, get over it. It is a harmless spider. You people would crap 9 pounds of rainbow colored shiat if you actually experienced nature. You know, that place where all the animals live that isn't called the zoo?

In this first generation, the original male also produced a queen, and together they will construct a primary nest which the queen will guard. But eventually, she will create reproductive offspring of her own. And when that happens, this town is dead... and the next town... and the next town... and the next one, and so on.

/man up nancies. Spiders aren't scary

Tarantulas are make interesting pets. Females can live 20 years for some species.

It being Halloween and all: you're welcome.

Spiders are awesome. I've got a European Orb Weaver that just decided to try to last out the winter in my kitchen and she's wonderful. My wife is feeding her mealworms.

I just wish with these that there were some way to describe the species but redact the locale so idiot, venal pet traders wouldn't devastate them.

Gorgeous colors on that one in the photo. Me like.

Only kept a tarantula once. An adult female rose hair I adopted from a friend who lived for well over ten years. They're not the most exciting pets really. When not feeding they tend to just sit in one spot all day.

I love spiders, except that time a black widow egg sac opened over me while I was reading a book and having a smoke outside and a million paratooping spiderlings landed on me. That freaked me out for a few hours.

I used to be scared of spiders, but then I moved to Canada, where farking bears will just wander into your house.

And did you know that moose are damn near invisible in the bush? My wife almost walked into one. And then it stood up, and it was 3 times her size.

God damn, nature. Just God damn.

That would have caused me to shave and then wax every inch of my body. Once the screaming had stopped, anyway.

As long as the bears dont drink all the bees you'll be fine

One of my Finnish friends has a very intelligent cat who likes to go on the balcony to look for bugs. There's a small zebra spider living in one of the balcony flowerboxes now and my friend has had to solemnly lecture the cat to not chase the spider or attempt to eat it.

All I know is, if the little darlings are "suffering high pressure from human activities," then I will gladly be the first to Fed-Ex them little cups of hot tea and some biscuits and jam.

I will NOT step foot on their continent.

2012-10-31 02:21:18 AM
Let's be realistic about this, it could be worse. It could be a new species of "hurricane dwelling spider".

They're fascinating creatures. Did you know that the way spiders metabolize psychoactive drugs is remarkably similar to how mammals do?

Tarantulas are kinda cool. Under certain conditions.

1) They live in a terrarium.
2) They can come out and climb on you - provided you understand the bite from the down up - thus don't let them climb to the edge of your hand.
3) They aren't able to land on you from above - from freakin' trees.

/shiat I learned from having one in college and reading this article.
//shiat I learned from the outdoor cats farking with them.
/// Tarantula bites to a cat is not as an expensive vet trip as you would think.
//// Cat ALWAYS wins

Oh noooooooes!
img84.imageshack.us

I actually like them, they're fascinating creatures. I had a bad fear of spiders when I was a kid, but then I got a job installing cable teevee and had to crawl under houses and into little cubby holes to string the wire. Sometimes there was barely enough room to move my arms. And more than once I crawled into a tight spot and when I turned on my flashlight I was staring a Black Widow eye-to-eye. I've been bit so many times I think I have a resistance to spider venom.

When they spin webs in my house I just let them be. Hell, they kill all the other annoying insects.

That spider pictured in the article is really cute!

WHY DO I COME INTO THESE THREADS?

*Shudder*

2012-10-31 05:06:49 AM
Saw my first tarantula in the wild this weekend. My boyfriends friend picked it up as it ran by camp... watching of crawl up his arm sent me into full blown hysteria... fark that shiat! Yeah I know it can't hurt me but my arachnophobia says otherwise.

2012-10-31 05:20:04 AM
I only have a problem with spiders when they're in my bedroom. I hate the idea of things crawling on me in my sleep. Make those things capable of biting me and leaving me with a painful itchy welt and I just hate the idea of them crawling on me more.

/once lived in an apartment building with an ant infestation in the walls

/oh fark, now I gave them ideas
