(Etsy)   Farker Artist has been trying since September to get her car fixed thanks to hit/run driver in parking lot. Unemployed for the last 3 years and the wolves are at the door. Check out the super cool stuff she's made...and she does custom work as well   (etsy.com) divider line 38

Do I really want to ask what you've been doing for money for the past three years? Whatever you're doing, it must be working well. Why change now?

I was going to tell you to go peddle your stuff somewhere else, but your stuff is cool and I have to give you kudos for using all the resources at your disposal, even if it is amongst us jerks here on Fark. Good luck.

Not exactly my style, but you are a talented artist. I really hope this works out for you. If it doesn't, I hear Atlanta has some slamming strip clubs. Maybe you could get some sales in the parking lots.

unemployed for 3 years? no one was hiring anywhere? seriously??
nothing personal, but at some point, adults get crappy jobs to pay the bills.
sucks that I cant be paid 2 million dollars a year for doing what I want to do, so meh, I will take this other job in the mean time ...

/yes, I understand, that if you are an artist, you need time to do your art. BUT ... being unemployed FULL TIME?? meh how about working 10-20 hours a week and doing your thing the rest of the week??

Nice style. I think it would be interesting to see it applied to a cartographic subject, such as a map of the US, World or Texas.

Smittina, your stuff is a lot of fun, and best of luck. Seen it elsewhere, and nothing but the best of luck with it. And maybe see a few prints head my way when I land in Rochester, because I NEED more stuff on my walls by people I genuinely like.

Yeah, I just had a timing belt break on my subaru this month. I've spent my fair share for auto repair this month.

So...lesbian? I keed!

Timing belts are brutal because they are usually tied to water pump replacement, and it's a hard repair, so labor runs up the cost. It's one of those things that doesn't have a cost advantage to replacing them before they fail - it costs the same regardless of when you do it.

There's a reason why a timing belt is a regular maintenance item. And no, it doesn't cost the same if it fails, as depending on the engine, you'll have valves hitting pistons.

Hi everyone

This is the artist here.

Thank you so much for the kindness and support. I've been out of work for over three years but getting by as best I can with odd jobs and selling everything I have. I am disabled and fighting some maladies I don't want to discuss here.

I am not a slacker.

Please feel free to email me if you want any custom work done...I can illustrate darn near anything.

Christmas cards -- maybe a Whoville type tree; kitty in a Santa hat; something with holly and berries?

2012-10-31 04:25:16 PM
Yes!! I also have Holiday Cards available! I've worked in the print and screenprint industry for years and have everything laid out so all you have to do is either

1) download the high res files and layout and print using your own printer

2) I can send it to your favorite printer

3) zazzle!

Yeah, fair enough, I didn't think of that. All of the timing belt replacements I've had to do didn't involve valve damage.

Follow the manufacturers recommended timing belt service. it usually includes replacing the water pump at the same time. If you do not replace a timing belt and it fails, the expense can be greatly multiplied. It not only powers the water pump on a lot of vehicles, it also controls the camshaft, which controls the piston valve timing. If they break while running at any speed, you may end up with some major engine repair bills.

Nice art, can't afford any at the moment myself. If I could, I'd be interested in originals as opposed to prints.

I need a new car, but I can't afford one at the moment myself. If I could, I'd be interested in a Bugatti as opposed to a Kia.

a lot of that depends on whether the engine is of an intereference type, but you are absolutly correct. Luckily, the only time I've had to play with timing belts personaly, was on my 92 Ford escort ( we keep her around as a spare vehicle, 400K miles and still going strong!) and that is a noninterferance engine. if the timing belt goes, the engine just stops.
repair and replacement is accomplished by going through the passenger side wheel well.

as opposed to the old dodge ram which implies taking off the face of the engine, possible removing the radiator, disconecting the motor mounts and jacking up the engine to gain access.

and of course, as mentioned it is recomended that the water pump is replaced as well.. why? you alreadt have all that stuff off or exposed... you might as well while you have it all apart.

Artist lady! I love your stuff, and I will be sending $20 bucks your way very soon here. I would love to see your take on the Scottish unicorn, or a ghostly 4.4.0 east coast american steam locomotive.
