Yep, and you probably work for Monsanto, too.
Control the spice and control the verse, baby.

Monsanto makes the fast food.
The fast food markets the media.
The media teaches you how to think.

flaminio: Ms. Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas serving as creative consultant. Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future.

Other than the fact it was his to screw up, I don't see how Disney can fark this franchise up any worse than Lucas already did.

I'm not sure of the angst, I like Star Tours and my nephews had a great time at Jedi Academy, if Disney were to expand that portion of their parks, or build a whole new area for this IP it would be great.

I kind of like the idea of that series being taken on by the Pixar crew. There's still be good in the franchise, I can feel it.

2012-10-30 04:29:03 PM
I don't know. Disney hasn't farked up Pixar or Marvel yet. Incorporating Star Wars and Indiana Jones into their theme parks would be a good thing for older fans with young kids. I think it would be cool to see Pixar work on a SW movie.

I think there is potential here. It's not like Star Wars and Indiana Jones were getting better staying in Lucas' hands.

2012-10-30 04:29:12 PM
I'm sorry to say but I'm open to this change. Granted I'm not one of those "Empire Strikes Back was the best movie, and Lucas needs to stop using green screen" fan boys but I think in Disney's hands there can be some potential for good things.

That is up until they release Episode 9 or 10 in theaters, or if they continue to let Lucas direct.

ArkPanda: I'm not seeing this as a disaster. Disney has made some kickass stuff over the years (and yes, some ass stuff too). This has instantly become their #1 franchise and they are going to take it seriously.

ILM + Pixar = I'll be in my bunk

THIS

/it should've been sequels ALL ALONG, not prequels

craxyd: The Fett: Only good can come from this. Star Wars resuced from the diseased hand that Lucas has become.

Except for the ridiculously huge stick Disney has up its ass about "copyright infringement"... All of us costumers can pretty much kiss our respective organizations like The Dark Empire, the 501st & the Mandalorian Mercs goodbye

If this is what it takes to finally put the 501st into it's coffin, so be it.

Damn.

I was hoping that He'd just put it all in Public Domain when he died.

I remember what Disney did with The Muppets-so not looking forward to this.

And to all you farkers who think that Lucas screwed up Star Wars, We get it.

Pretty much this. If they can attract good talent (and why wouldn't they), they could really make something awesome. The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network is a pretty good example that there's still life in the old dog.

Avatar-Land is going into Animal Kingdom. Any Star Wars themed land would most likely go into Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom will remain untouched by these properties.

Instead of Episode 7 I'd rather see them redo 1, 2 and 3.

The rights to one of the most popular and beloved film franchises of all time being sold? It's kinda major. It also means Lucas -- maybe the most influential Hollywood filmmaker of the modern era -- is (finally) retiring.

I wonder what impact this is going to have on extended universe copyright stuff because Disney is a huge biatch about infringement.

Anyway I'd trust Disney over Lucas any day. Too bad they didn't do this before he started filming Episode One. Those suits would have never let Jar-Jar out the door.

Lucas said in a statement, "It's now time for me to pass 'Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers."

Well, the late 90's would've been a better time, but better late than never, eh George?
