Party Info:	*Some of our March of Dimes folks won't be able to make it for 11/1, sorry! But we'll have a blast on 11/24.* Date/Time: November 1, 2012 - Time TBD Info: We just opened a poker school in DFW, and I'd like to throw a little fark poker party/freeroll/March of Dimes benefit thingy. The general idea is this: farkers come out, pitch in $10 to play a free poker tournament at the school, and the winner's prize money goes, in their name, to March of Dimes. We'll have some March of Dimes fundraising gals come out to deal the tournament for us (basically the wives of all my buddies - they do MoD stuff every couple of months. They call themselves B4B, "Boobies for Babies"). As people bust out of the tournament, they'll walk next door to the Villa Mediterranean Bar and Grill and have some drinks, some food, and some laughs. We can raffle off some cool stuff for the benefit, too - poker sunglasses, shirts, hats, and miscellaneous paraphernalia. Anyhow, that's the idea. Boobies, babies, bluffing, and beer.

My daughter was born in her 27th week of gestation, in '92. She came into the world at 2 lbs, 8oz., 16 inches long. Her skull & jaw were the size of a baseball. During her 2 months, 5 days of hospitalization, infections were so commonplace that the nurses stopped telling us how many times she stopped breathing. We would only finding out the next day when we would visit.

Growing up, she has been a slow learner all her life; misdiagnosed with A.D.D., then A.D.H.D., and then grew an emotional dependency to needing pills for bad diagnoses. She grew to hate learning so bad that she dropped out of high school and turned to drugs and willingly lived homeless for a brief time.

I have full guardianship over my ex-wife for her issues and pushing that boulder uphill as my ex exhausts her last appeal to push for the proper counseling and treatment. She is now being treated impulse control issues due to her birth (and slow) immaturity.

So, yeah, I get a kick out of this event.

To the planners from a Dad who has and is fighting that battle, very well done! It is my hope that we can give no reason for this charity to be around by knowing, understanding and preventing premature birth rates. It is my wish that there won't be a Mom or Dad who has to deal with the same situation.

It's all in how you handle the situation, and falling apart when you need, to deal with the situation. Making the positive choices to do the most good is all any of us can do.

It would be smart to put the rescheduled date in your headline. Most people won't click on the link, and we've seen this rescheduling notice so often that it's meaningless.

Hey everyone!

I didn't see any farkers yesterday, BUT I'm proud to say we raised $780 for the March of Dimes anyhow! Woo hoo! We will still be selling more raffle tickets throughout the weekend - the winner is getting a year of poker classes and coaching, and again, 100% of all proceeds go to MoD.

We'll do the drawing Sunday night. If you wanted to contribute but couldn't make it yesterday, feel free to come on in today or tomorrow.
