Weaver95: Nabb1: This is just insane. We should not be bickering about politics at a time like this. The real discussion we should be having is whether or not we should rebuild Manhattan. I mean, those people chose to live in a place where this could happen. Look at it - all that flooding from just a category 1.

I say we build a giant wall around New York City, then we could empty all our prisons into the city and let them all survive (or not!) inside.

Everyone must leave the Bronx

I like it. Plus, Kurt Russel's career could use a boost.

ooo...we could put him in charge.

Just as long as we don't follow up the inevitable success of this idea with a cheap, half-assed attempt at trying the same thing in L.A. that will completely ruin the franchise.

That was an abomination. A "Highlander 2"/"Godfather 3"-level cinematic hate crime. But, the story went that Russell was presented with two scripts and the studio would green light whichever one of the two he wanted. One was the sequel to "Escape from New York." The other was a sequel to "Big Trouble in Little China." I think all us dodged a huge bullet there, assuming that would have done to "Big Trouble in Little China" what "Escape from LA" did to its predecessor.

Anyone who had to prescience to preserve the modern classic that is "Lopan Style" gets an "A" in my book.

First of all, WTF is ironic about any of this? Secondly, John McCain was candidate who had no particular authority or expertise with respect to the economic crisis, when even the "experts" were befuddled about what exactly was happening and what to do about it, whereas BARACK OBAMA IS THE F*CKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and is dealing with a known crisis and doing a pretty good job of it so far (at least, according to that far-left libby Chris Christie).

no wonder the media lefties are shouting about changing the date of the election.

Yeah, about that...I followed your handy link, and found out that the article discusses whether it is possible to move the date of an election, in terms of the Constitution, federal and state law, etc., and concludes that it is possible, but it would be a huge clusterfark that no one wants and no one is "shouting about" doing it.

You are a f*cking asshole, Michael Walsh.

You and I need to grab a beer sometime. Or lunch. I told my wife if I was stuck on a desert island and could have only one movie to watch, it would be "BTILC" because it was a perfectly balanced movie. I said it was as close as a work of cinema could come to total harmony with the universe. She said it was "okay" but that I was "weird."

Can anyone explain to me how a piece at ABC.com with the headline of "Could Sandy Push Back Election Day?" and whose third 'paragraph' is the single sentence " The short answer is it is possible, but very unlikely to happen. " can be taken and written into the following sentence:

"no wonder the media lefties are shouting about changing the date of the election."

What kind of mind-blowing brain injury must you have to sustain in order to take some idle speculation including the acknowledgement that that speculation is 'very unlikely' and turn it into "media lefties are shouting about changing the date of the election"?

Weaver95: this was one of Limbaugh's main talking points today - he was actually gleeful and happy that Obama had to call off his campaign schedule in order to do his job as President. Rush was happy over the death and destruction, seeing it as a good thing for the GOP in general, and Romney in particular.

Of course. Those 38 people were east-coasters, and therefore probably liberal. Good riddance, as far as Rush is concerned.

Yes, everyone should avoid living in any coastal area of this country. Or near rivers, creeks, streams or reservoirs.

Voluntarily, natch. We wouldn't want oppressive government telling us where to live.

I find it interesting that Rush thinks this is bad for Obama. If you were to politicize this I think it's great news for him. He gets to flex his commander in chief muscles at the last second for something that has captured the nations attention. He may not be hanging out in Ohio, but I would assume he is racking up points with voters. I personally see this as the worst thing that could happen to Romney. He can't get any face-time without looking insincere or for photo-ops.

i don't think it's trolling... it's more of a what's good for the goose is good for the gander logical argument

As I recall, libby libs were making fun of Republicans for choosing to put their convention--which could have been held in a number of different places--in a hurricane zone during hurricane season. Nobody cheered on the hurricane.

If you want to make fun of the people who tried to go jogging in Central Park during hurricane Sandy, be my guest.

There seems to be a bit of history revision going on here. When John McCain suspended his campaign in order to deal with the financial crisis, I thought he was being a bit of a drama queen. Not because the crisis wasn't a crisis, but because he seemed to have an overinflated opinion of the importance of his presence in Washington. But hey, he was taking his job seriously and I wasn't going to rag on that.

Except that it turned out to be a lie. He made a huge stink about cancelling his appearance on David Letterman's show, only to be caught by Letterman's cameras sitting in the make-up chair prepping for an interview with Katie Couric. The whole "rush back to DC" routine was just more of the Maverick's horse shiat.

Rush's contract is up during the next Presidential term. He needs Obama to win to keep his ratings high. A Romney win would cost him millions.
