kingoomieiii: hb0mb: Man, having Tourettes must be so goddamned annoying.

I knew a guy in high school who had a mild version of it. He would cough and clear his throat pretty much constantly.

I knew a guy with a mild case also. his problem tended to be facial twitching and a verbal tick where he would be speaking and mid word would say mop or something very close to that. Always the same sound never any cussing or yelling types of issues. really nice guy too.

When I was working at the MGM Grand, there was a program where the city of Las Vegas was trying to find employment for unemployable people. We started out with a few dozen of these people, but over the course of a year, most of them weeded themselves out.

One of those people was a mentally challenged young man named Jimmy who had among other problems, Tourette's. Things were going fine at first because we had him working at the back of the house. But then his mother got this bright idea to threaten to sue the MGM Grand if her son wasn't out there on the casino floor like everybody else.

The MGM Grand relented and they put Jimmy out on the casino floor. Jimmy didn't do too well around crowds and that's when his Tourette's got really worse. Jimmy had this nightmarish laugh like all of the world's serial killers put together into one person. He could actually clear a bank of slot machines just by giggling. Here in Las Vegas, I've seen slot zombies stand their ground against fires and flood. I've never seen those old buzzards move so fast when jimmy was laughing.

natazha: quickdraw: Voted to legalize in Oregon today.

Unfortunately, this vote is meaningless until the U. S. Congress legalizes it at the Federal level. Write your Congress-critters. Real paper letters will have far more impact than an email.

Thats what they said about medical marijuana and yet thousands of people use their medical marijuana recommendation every day. This particular bill is good because it assumes that Oregon will have to fight this at the Fed level and has allocated the resources to do so.

The only vote that is meaningless is the one that's not cast.

but yet our fed gov claims it still has no medical uses at all and continue to send the DEA thugs after medical MJ stores.

Then why are the feds fighting Californias legit according to California medical marijuana distribution system?

Because thats what the feds do. It doesn't change the fact that there are lots of states they leave alone. States rights will eventually prevail. In the meantime we dont just give up because it's hard. We keep fighting on every front.

Hey...

It's just a thought...I mean, I don't have Tourette's..but..y'know..I was thinking...

Maybe if you smoked BEFORE the coffee things might work even better.

Jus' sayin'.

I agree with the other commenter that we need to deal with the federal level first or in my opinion the feds are just wasting our tax dollars busting these places when it's legal at the state level.

Over 50% of the country supports decriminalizing marijuana. Less than 2% of our congress does.

Can someone tell me why we still call them our "representatives"?

I have to say that if I ever come down with something that it could help, I don't care about being legal or not. I saw another one like this only the guy spoke english. Maybe that was after the second one.

jaylectricity: Atomic Spunk: In the past when I've gone through periods of smoking a lot of weed, my body would build up a tolerance and I'd need more and more just to get the same effect. Would that be the case with using it to treat Tourette's?

It's not your body building up a tolerance. It's your brain becoming accustomed. You needed to feel "weird" to feel like it was working. The more you smoked, the more being high felt normal, the more it took to feel weird.

Tourette's originates in the brain, so are you saying that a patient will need increasingly more weed to get the same pharmacological benefits? Or is it possible to get the benefits of reducing symptoms of Tourette's even if you don't feel high?

The reason I ask is that I recall seeing a documentary where some guy was suffering from arthritis and he said weed helped his condition. But he also said that he had been smoking weed for so long, he doesn't really feel high anymore, but it still helps his arthritis. I was wondering if it worked the same way for Tourtette's.

50 percent of the country is stupid and believes in a skywizard that gives emmys to artists and helps NBA players win games. That was just my guess.

Poor guy with Tourette's. MJ seems to help. Thank skywizard he lives in a liberal country where he can get help.

Doing my ballot tonight. Even my wife, who doesn't think people should smoke, is voting yes. She understands it's a waste of money to fight it.

If we had to wait for the federal government to do what's right first, it's going to get awfully cold in hell.

Same with stimulants. A lot of patients ask for a higher dose when the high stops happening, thinking it isn't working anymore, even when it is.

I have a friend who suffers from Tourette Syndrome. Nothing as severe as that, fortunately. She gets into "barking fits" on occasion. That sometimes results in situations with people in public places. People think she is farking with them and sometimes don't accept her explanation.

So vote Libertarian and let's end this bullshiat. The war on drugs isn't about drugs, it's about control. Control by people that in more civilized countries would be taken out back and shot on general principals.

I grew up with a kid that had tourettes. We never knew it at the time {or did he}, we just thought he was weird. He had the strange nervous habits - face twitching, a hiccup/ cough thing and every once in a while when he walked he would wipe or check the bottom of his shoes. His parents divorced and he moved on then he called me a few years ago out of the blue & told me he was diagnosed with it.

The feds dont lose money busting the drug cartels the retail bud shops. And - if you know anything about the nitty gritty reality of pot distribution in cali then you know theres a reason the local cops and lawyers arent doing squat against the feds. Its not the same everywhere - even in other parts of cali.

The fight against marijuana prohibition is being fought the same way alcohol prohibition was fought. And its working. Its just a messy process no matter how you do it.
