Nice vetting there, Lou

My local news actually reads their Facebook wall now. Not "reads it to see what people are saying". They read it on air. Just spend 5 minutes of every broadcast reading stupid comments on Facebook.

The Trilateral Commission brainwashed you into posting that.

It's not news, it's CNN.com.

CNN = Certainly Not News.

Wait, so did the Weather Channel actually report that, or it was just some commenter? It looks like CNN is trying to make the Weather Channel take the blame by saying "previous reports by the Weather Channel" not "we read their bulletin board and quoted it verbatim"

it all sounds so very complicated.

and then again maybe not .. anyways

This is the problem with 'crowdsourcing'. It only works if the masses have some skin in the game. Otherwise it's just a lot of blowhards in an echo chamber.

Compare and contrast: Fark Caturday(TM) threads vs. Fark Politics threads.

Are you there, subby? Did you see it with your own eyes? Or are you depending on the ultra-liberal HuffPo for all your news? Do you know the word "gullible" is not in the dictionary?

I thought we all understood and accepted that CNN "journalists" are nothing but tweet reading hacks. They are not even good hacks with panache, like FOX. Just lame hacks who wouldn't know journalism if it hit them across the face like a cold, wet fish.

They actually reported it. It was soon after they mentioned that the runways at LaGuardia were under water.

'Nutty Comments and Insane Theories' should be the standing head on most comments sections.

They reported it, on air;live, by a corespondent at the corner or Wall St. and Broad citing the NYFD as a source.

2012-10-30 01:30:56 PM
They then retracted it about 5 minutes later but it left me wondering if it was a misunderstanding or if it was true, but someone wanted it rescinded due to the effect on world markets that are still open.

Nothing New.

Back in '05, during Katrina I watched CNN commentators pull up blogs and read them verbatim off the screen.

"This will have an influence worldwide on people's wealth," he said ominously.

Erin Burnett also reacted, saying that it was an "incredible thing" and a "record-making moment" and adding, "It's a wooden floor, and it's a historic building, the damage it could do would be amazing."

Let's pretend for a second, this was true.

1) The money invested in the stock exchange is not stored there.
2) Wood floors can get wet. I would be more concerned about the fancy computer equipment.

Sounds like someone can't tell the difference between NYSE and NYMEX.

Isn't everything hanging from the ceiling at the NYSE? At least that's what it looks like when they do those cut scenes during the business report.

I blame the loud-mouth know-nothing atheists and the boring materialist flatland they want us all to inhabit because they stopped believing in Santa Claus.

You know, boring virgins like Dick Dawkins, Chris Hitchens and fatty high school grad Penn Gillette whose opinion we should all value because........he's an entertainer? Well what does Eddie Vetter think?

That's funny, I was just noticing that at least 5 Fark posts today just happen to be the exact same things I posted in the hurricane discussion thread yesterday/last night.
Coincidence, I'm sure...

Republican Jesus wouldn't let such a thing happen. GOP Jesus loves the independent investor and hedges calamity insurance derivatives personally.

It seems like this is 100% on the National Weather Service. They put it in an update, source unknown. They're responsible for the vetting. Once NWS pushes it.. it's supposed to be treated as factual and reportable.
/works in the tv.

Don't even get me started. The TV station I work for not only reads them on air, but crawls them across the bottom of the screen during the 4pm newscast...

\been in this business too long

Same here . Nobody cares what "Mike from Evergreen Park " has to say.

They've been doing this for a while. They just collect tweets and publish an "article."

And who says traditional media can't be relevant.

This is probably why more people watch Fox than all the other cable news networks combined.
