Thank you very much dude. BTW, good luck cleaning up after Sandy, this west coast Texan is sending you guys nothing but love (rare I know).

/BK is cool just based on my love of hip hop though. Biggie, ODB, and Mos Def!

Did the Lakers put 16 stars around the center court logo to represent their 16 titles? Very Euro soccer of them.

Now That's What I Call a Taco!: Prediction: Mike Brown will not make it through this season.

/but it will mostly be the bench's fault

I'd be shocked if he made it to Christmas, given how shiatty the Lakers look.

I think it represents how many free throws Howard is going to make this year.

No problem.

The city gonna be doing a bit of cleaning up over the next couple of weeks but my neighborhood was relatively unscathed, utilities were steady and in the worst of it, the lights flickered a bit for me. It's not like Breezy Point on the Rockaways. 100 houses burned down out there, I'm lucky

LOL, Dallas beat the Lakers handily without Dirk and Kaman. HAHAHAH! Suck it LA.

As much as I like Nash I just can't bring myself to root for the Lakers. Oh yeah & Kobe sucks.

Damn. I really had no idea that this hurricane would be so horrible. Hoping for a quick recovery.

The Lakers have a $99 million payroll - $17 million more than the Heat, the second most expensive team in the NBA.

I find it funny that ESPN is playing poker right now. They fully understand how much Inside the NBA destroys them in content and ratings.

The nba season opener is like Christmas Day for a Jehovah's Witness, to me.

I enjoy playing basketball, but I cannot watch a sport that takes 10- 15 real time minutes to play the last 45 seconds on the clock.

Mike Brown is an awful head coach for the Lakers.

Too many words in that sentence.

I didn't see the late game, but I'm not surprised that Howard had the lowest +/- on his team.

Why are you hung up on the clock? If you like a sport, you'll enjoy the last 10-15 minutes of a hotly contested game. Doesn't really matter if it took longer than the clock says. Does it bother you that an NFL game takes 3 hours to play an hour on the clock?

He's one of the people responsible for the time changes in the NCAA, where the clock doesn't stop on first downs near the end of the game. I HATE EXCITING FINISHES THAT ELONGATING THE LAST COUPLE MINUTES ALLOWS! GIVE ME MY FAST ENDINGS WITH NO EXCITEMENT!

/wow, congrats Mavs! Didn't expect that one!

Not really... it is "virtually live" (like a 5-10 minute tape delay) of the WSOP final table going on Tuesday night... they have done that the past 3-4 years, "hold" the final table of the WSOP until Oct/Nov to show it "live" instead of on 3 month tape delay.

Celtics defense looks un-Celtics-like. It is only one game they will get better, it is a tough draw to get the Heat in the first game. Barbosa looked good though.

I knew that comment was coming, and it's a good question. I don't really have a good answer, it just bugs me. If they were allowed one timeout a half I'd probably watch more.

As for the NFL, I honestly I don't watch a lot other, than highlights. I prefer the cfl with its 20 second play clock and its receivers who run an 11.5 40.

I would love to see the nfl go to a 30 second play clock, but it will never happen.

I have to somewhat agree, I think the NFL would be more exciting and have "quicker" (and not as forgone conclusion at end of the game) games (although considering commercial time they want, I am not sure they are looking for "quicker" games as much as they claim) if they went to AFL timing rules:
* Game clock doesn't stop on out of bounds plays or incomplete passes until last 2 minutes of each half. (this includes the clock running during the extra point)... actually in Arenaball it is the last minute, but, the "2 minute warning" in the AFL is at 1 minute, so, I'd make it last 2 minutes in NFL.
* In last two minutes of each half, team on offense with the lead must gain positive yardage on a play, otherwise the clock stops (ie, no kneeldowns).
