A note from Unfreakable:

I don't really look at this as a Democrat thing or a Republican thing or a political thing, I consider this an Internet thing. The same as when Fark helped send a crowbar and a Half-Life strategy manual to the scientist at the LHC that looked like Gordon Freeman in one of the publicity photos.

A lot of people are saying, "Hey, he can afford to buy his own car!" Of course he can. This isn't about helping Joe because he can't afford a car, it's about making a silly Internet meme become reality, and also to help some charities. If you really want to discuss politics, I'd ask that you go over to the politics tab; there are a lot of current stories there that you can discuss. This one is about having fun and doing something neat. If you don't want to join in, you don't have to--that's your choice. I'd just ask that you find a different thread that's more to your liking.

To all of you Farkers that have helped in any way, whether it was contributing with money, or time, or organizing any of this, or helping share the word on your Facebook wall or tweeting it--YOU FREAKING ROCK. Thank you for what you've done, and hopefully what you'll continue to do. This is awesome and everybody who has had a hand in helping to set this up or keep the momentum going is fantastic. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

We tweeted major news outlets in major cities all last week. I got a couple of biltes, but no front-page anything. I expect we're not going to see front-page anything until after the election news cycle and the story coverage quiets down.

After Halloween and leading up until the election, I think we're going to focus on major outlets. I'd like to see us over $15K and we're almost there.

He was one of the first politicians to publicly embrace gay marriage and may have been personally responsible for President Obama coming out in favor of gay marriage and the subsequent change in the Democratic Party's platform. He is also a stunningly intelligent politician who understands the nuance of foreign and domestic policy. He is also not afraid to show disdain for factually deficient arguments."

Yet the whole thing started after the VP Debates and is directly related to discussion of weather Mr Biden was a complete asshat or not during those debates. Some folks decided to live out the Internet meme and this is clearly in support for Mr Bidens actions in the debate and approval of him as Vice President.
I just wish the folks here on FARK could be intellectually honest about their actions. Their failure is one of the reason's we've seen such a huge decline in the quality of posts and stories.

I kind of agree here. Everyone keeps saying its not politically motivated, but the writeup implies otherwise.

I think if you rewrote that section you would have less problems. That, or just remove the part where you say its not a left/right thing.

I really thought this was painfully obvious.

I suspect the major news outlets are too busy with Sandy and the election. However, I am certain they will cover it when Biden gets the car (probably at the end of the newscast when they air cute pet stories). Right now, it's not really a "news story" because, technically, nothing has happened yet (i.e.: there are no pictures or video to show).

I understand that. The problem is that the writeup is somewhat polarizing you knucklehead.

When you start a statement off by saying you're not being political and then you praise politicians you're kind of sending a confusing message to some people. Right or wrong, that is what's happening. You can stomp your feet and keep yelling "charity" or you can fix the goddam message to be more coherent.

I bet it would bring a few extra bucks from conservatives if you didn't praise their mortal enemy in the first farking paragraph.

I really wasn't trying to be a dick about it. I've been watching this whole thing unfold since day one.

While I understand what's going on and the satire, I can see why some people are immediately turned off and probably don't read anything past the first paragraph.

I just figured that if you are truly here for charity, then you want to raise every dime you can. Removing or changing the polarizing material would not have a negative effect and would help in your efforts. You're not trying to teach reading comprehension or push a candidate. Just fix the damn thing so people stop coming to complain.
