Atlantic city devastated. NYC flooded. Rockaway on fire. 18 inches in snow in West Virginia. So much more.

Update us on your status, Farkers.

Please. We care.

They may not be able to update for awhile RWS. I know it sounds trite but I hope everyone is safe and warm. This is epic.

Praying for all of you big time. :(

Can our Farkers who can please check in?

2012-10-30 06:06:29 AM
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no

Looks like high tide at the Battery will hit around 9:00 am Eastern.

FWIW: Downtown DC is soggy but quiet and still standing, and my house outside the city never lost power or phone.

Looking for forecasts of how today is supposed to go and for whom...

/it's hard to work today because I will be able to keep very little track about what's going on.

I am a lucky bastard. I witnessed choas from safety in Georgia.

You?

/worried that we won't hear from some Farkers for a week while power is being fixed

Is that customers or people?

Where are you watching from?

As of last 7 - it was 4 million. Some had a rough night.

Any updates from California? I heard they declared a State of Emergency last night. Earthquakes. Fairly significant ones.

More than fine. The worst I had to deal with was coyotes & an unexpected raccoon

This is bigger than big.

Also? I want to hear from my fondly acerbic Farkers.

I feltb so awfully helpless last night watching emergency tweets roll in. People trapped. This one guy tweeted that his battery powered ventillation was near its end and was pleading for a generator.

I'm waiting to hear about my parents' home. I fear it doesn't exist anymore.

Last year's two big storms left us without power for over a week each. This morning we still have power. So there's that.

Midwest checking in.

Cold and snowing. Thats new.

/thoughts and prayers with those on the coast.

That's horrible. I'm a scanner geek, as well as a tweet geek. Bahhhhh.

Update from my inlaws on Staten Island: they weathered the storm fine, but they're on relatively high ground toward the south tip of the island.

I have no idea how badly flooded my sister-in-law's house in New Dorp was, however.

Check USGS. All eq's there were small.
Canada however is still getting hit. This is cause for concern for all of us on the West Coast. These quakes are close to the slip plate.

Central Virginia checking in. We only really got outerbands of the storm and we are okay.

At the brewery now working to restock the shelves.

Good luck my northern friends.

All of the fatalists in central Vermont are feeling pretty stupid right now. Montpelier had 2 downed power lines, and the leaves moved from one end of my yard to the other. Schools are still closed, though, because, let's be honest, who wants to drive through a puddle, right?

Live in Brooklyn, just up the road from Red Hook in Carroll Gardens. My area is fine. Some tree branches down, but stil have power cable, internet. Red Hook got flooded out though, plan on heading down to see. New York is DEVASTATED. Not New Oreleans after Katrina devasted, lets all be real here, but the flooding is beyond belief. It looks like I'll be stuck in Brooklyn for a while due to bridge and tunnel closures.

I hope you all remembered to secure your lawn chairs. Godspeed.

2012-10-30 08:18:41 AM
Here is DC it seems I got off easy... I didn't lose power and I'm on the third floor, so no flooding. I have friends who lost power, but they were prepared. It's still pouring, and the temperature has dropped a bit since before the storm.

Hope everyone else is doing all right!

You sound like me with the Tsunami Quake.

My printer fell off a shelf. That was the extent of my damage. Tohoku was not so lucky.

Syracuse, NY didn't end up with much at all. Some power outages, some trees down, cell service sketchy.

Our thoughts are with the more coastal folks who got whupped. (Wait, is that a tanker blocking the street?)

Down here in Richmond VA, we are fine. Maybe a couple hundred people lost power and no other big issues that I have heard of.

My brother-in-law lives in NJ about 10 miles south of Philly. He lost power for a couple hours last night but that has been fixed and they are good.
Reports of another relative closer to Atlantic City is they have several inches of water standing in their house.
