Why does Jersey always have to one up New York. Is Christie that insecure?

2012-10-30 02:05:13 AM
Jesus fark, this is pretty grim shiat. I guess living on the East Coast and dealing with mostly tons of snow at worst has left me clueless about what it must be like to live in regular hurricane country.

Doom!

North jersey is well hit, though the storm peaked a while ago. Winds calmer now. There's a house split in half by a tree down the road.

Still seeing some arcing power lines off in the distance. All tri-state deaths so far are from falling limbs. Stay inside and away from trees people.

Sopranos first thing I thought of, too. Of course, I don't know the show's geographic setting, aside from just "New Jersey."
But to the mayor and police chief, I just want to say good luck - they're all counting on you.

Anyone know of any live video of the storm? All I can find are news reports.

Well, most of Holland is under sea level, so it could lead to a chain breaching of dikes and a global tulip shortage.

They should call Cory Booker, according to his Twitter feed he's been personally responding to nearly every disaster brought to his attention.

davidphogan: What's the simultaneous Newsflashes on the main page at the same time record? Are the admins just trolling us now?

Not sure if it's a record, but a lot of major events are occurring in NYC. Flooding bad enough that it's make it extremely difficult for firefighters to get to a house fire in Queens. The explosion at a Con-Ed substation. Evacuation of NYU Medical Center after their backup generators failed, this being done despite flooded streets. Some of the patients being evacuated are newborns from NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). They're especially fragile since some of them were born prematurely.

I just saw a few of those after I had posted, but I just wasn't sure if it was because of all the headlines they had greenlit mocking the storm before it started, you know, killing people and stuff.

I keep saying holy crap. I haven't been to NYC since I moved from Buffalo, but it always has been one of my favorite cities and it sucks to see it falling into a hellish situations. It just seems like it might be easier to keep track of things in one thread instead of multiple.

That was still on the main page when I posted as well.
