Indubitably: *but-but-but the security personnel who will sorta try and save you at the expense of their person...what about them?*

Are you suggesting we risk the lives of rescue personnel for persons who would not follow evacuation instructions?

Basket Case: Even people in Florida are smarter than this.

I was a lifeguard in Florida for 3 years, during tropical storms, late-summer thunderstorms, and more, and no, they are not. In our defense it is mostly inland and Georgian tourists.

/it's not as big a deal to miss a beach day when you only live 5 minutes away

P.S. They're paid plenty for danger. Go dangerly.

Put other people's lives at risk while you're at it. They'll get paid if they survive, which, if they don't, you'll have been personally responsible for.

But hey, at least you get to have fun.

Stupid, selfish people. They should be like the rest of the sheep and do what their betters in government tell them to do! They are like the bad kids in the classroom who don't do exactly what the teachers tell them and ruin it for the rest of us!

What I want to know is this - when junior gets wiped off the boardwalk by the waves and his battered
and broken body is found in the surf, who do the parents think they'll have the right to sue? Because
you KNOW it will happen if one of these kids gets killed or hurt because idiot parents thought it would
be cool to take them to see a real live hurricane.

Seacop: STAY OFF THE GODDAMN BEACH.

To all you farktards who don't know where these people are:

They're not on the beach, they're on top of the seawall. People have been observing storms (much larger than Sandy) from that seawall for years. The seawall is about 20+ ft above normal sea levels and well designed to direct the wave energy out to sea. Nothing they're doing is unsafe.

/been there, surfed DO

FTA:

"As of 4:30 p.m., Sullivan said they've had "some calls" about people swimming in the ocean. Police aren't "bothering" the many individuals walking on the sidewalks, but are using their public address systems to get people out of the water because the beaches are closed, he said."

If you're dumb enough to surf, kayak, windsurf, swim, or hang around a seawall in a storm like this one, then when you get swept out to sea, you should be allowed to die, no questions asked, no rescue attempt made, and your family doesn't get to sue. End of story.

Sounds like the definition of a self correcting problem.

No.

What seawalls failed?
