"factitious"?

StopLurkListen: "factitious"?

If facts were both fictitious and facetious, they would be factitious. It's a perfectly cromulant word, and I can feel the truthiness of it.

I have decided to trust people that type in all caps. That is the only reasonable response to this information.

I used to love baseball. When I played it in Little League. Now I'd rather fill a Pringles can with lunch meat and wrap the outside with Papier-mâché so I can get the sensation of having sex with a broken arm. Man I miss Little League.

HELLO SIR,

I HAVE JUST WON THE BOTSWANAN NATIONAL LOTTERY, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE FUNDS CANNOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE PROCESSING FEE OF 650 USD IS PAID. SINCE THE TIME WINDOW TO CLAIM MY WINNINGS IS SHORT, I AM WILLING TO SHARE A QUARTER OF MY PRIZE OF TEN MILLION USD WITH YOU IF YOU CAN COVER THE FEE.

When was the last time an expert predicted a sweep in a Championship final in any sport that has a series? Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, etc?

Yeah, they look like morons now for all picking the Tigers after the Tigers got swept. Deservedly so, though how many serious Giants fans thought that the Giants would sweep? Or even win in 5?

At first, I wasn't sure. But after Game 1, when they showed they had Verlander all figured out, I knew they could do it.

Well, before the playoffs started, I (correctly) predicted the Yankees to face the Tiers in the ALCS, but I predicted Yankees in six.
Right before the ALCS started, I changed that to Tigers in six due to how craptacular the Yankees played in the ALDS.
As soon as Jeter got hurt, I predicted then and there, as he lay in the infield, that the Yankees were getting swept.

Well thing is, Verlander's start was the only bad performance of Tigers pitching the whole series. Problem is, their offense was completely dead the whole time.

This is true. The Giants had some good pitching and just some great defense overall.

All predictions which happened after the various series started, based on what had happened in the series. Which sort of proves my point - predictions of a sweep before the series started were unrealistic at the time. So while the experts should be embarrassed for getting the predictions wrong, they shouldn't be too upset that a San Fran moron fan predicted San Fran sweeping, even if the moron got it right.

/Next year! Next year, my Tigers will be back.

While he didn't predict a sweep, my brother did predict that whoever won the NCLS would easily win the WS, before the start of the NCLS.

Grant is one of the best Giants bloggers out there, by far. This kind of shenaniganary is right up his alley.

I predict..... I predict that the Houston Astros will do better than last year.

You can take that to the bank.

Whoa. Came on to Fark, and I'm front-page not-news. Wasn't expecting that. I always thought it would be when they found the bodies in the abandoned quarry.

Stats - winning record/percentage. I'm not predicting they're moving from the bottom. They could easily stay there. Yeah, I know - its not much of a prediction. I was making a lame joke.

Watch both AL Wild Cards come out of the AL West next season....largely thanks to the Astros losing 75-80% of their division games.
