I've seen contortion glitches in just about every FPS game I've every played. And the list totally missed the HL1 and HL2 "glitches" where a dead body would suddenly flop 10 feet in one direction or another, or sometimes just sit there spasming. That would often scare the crap out of me.

That's aactually from the 1982 videogame tie-in for the release of "Pink Floyd's The Wall." That's your wife and you have to alienate her by shaving off your eyebrows before she manages to eat your dick.

Video game glitches scared the crap out of me as a kid. When my NES would go blocky, I'd dive for the power button. If the game could mess up, there was no telling what horror might come across my screen next.

Weird, Link's Awakening has been one of my favorite games for a long time (and the screen warp glitch one of my all time favorite video game hax) and I've never heard of that doghouse glitch. I'll have to try it later.

Love that game too, never tried the glitches but I always found it amusing to steal from the shopkeeper.

I always hated it when the snorks or bandits would glitch out while you were going through the research stations in STALKER. I'd always forget they were there on the way back.

When I first got Max Payne 3, a few hours in the game controls suddenly locked up and the character models lost their upper bodies -- just a bunch of legs running around.

I still have some screenshots of this, but unfortunately I don't have them with me.

I know how to do the taunt but how do you get stuck like that? I've seen people in trade servers doing it and while I'm not trolling the current event maps I'd like to just spycrab around.

IIRC, just whip out your cigarette case, look straight up, crouch and walk around.

I saw "cartridge tilting" mentioned in one of the articles. Reminded me of when I did something similar on the old Atari 2600 with the Dragonfire cartridge. I wouldn't mess with the cartridge, but I would keep toggling the power switch until it would be "in between" and load the ROM incorrectly to play some weird hidden version of the game. It never ended and I wouldn't die, but I would be able to move all around and capture goods.

I get that these resemble some kind of body horror, but for some reason that's never affected me in video games. I expect to be immersed in video games, but all they do is take me out of it.

No love for the Mario 64 hidden chamber near the castle door? Don't remember how, but you can jump into the space between the doors and the wall and get stuck.

I've seen some farked up shiat in Arkham City, but most of those would seem to be intended to be there.

I've encountered bunches upon bunches of videogame glitches. One of my favorites and the first one that came to mind is the model-melting glitches like in the Sims and many FPSs. Grand Theft Auto: SA, mountain bike glitch.

It is when they're standing on their hind feet for 10-15 seconds before falling over. Dragons shuffling is not what I wanted to see at 2am

I lived with 4 roommates when the first Max Payne came out. My friend brought it home and we started playing it, switching off after a death or two. We got to the crying baby part and it glitched out so that there was no end to the path, we walked around in circles for 20 or 30 minutes before we were so creeped out we turned it off for a bit. Didn't help that it was late as hell and we lived in a creepy old house converted into apartments.

My favorite game glitches are in Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption.

I also recall using the tilting cartridge method with Zelda 64 to get out of Kokiri Village without a sword. That game is a little more difficult when you don't have a sword (though not impossible).

When I was a child I was playing Alien vs Predator for SNES and during the second level the game froze and creepy ass circus music started playing. Scariest thing thats ever happened to me.

People rag of Cracked and they've certainly dropped in quality as of late, but Jesus fark me if they don't come up with some damn jewels. I read this article yesterday, had me in tears. I almost choked on food on the WCW glitch. The writer of this article? Good stuff.

Yeah, that WCW glitch is pretty f'ked up. Actually, all of that break-dancing mess from N64 "tilting" is major crazy.

Sometimes in Battlefield 2 when you would revive someone as a medic, the graphics wouldn't switch out from the dead body back to a living person. So you could be playing, and see a zombie soldier coming at you shooting, or having one as your ally.

Not really creepy, but sometimes freaky.

Back in the day, it was known as "frying" in some circles, and yes, if you were patient, and figured out the proper touch needed, you could make most carts do things that wouldn't be seen again until the days of the Game Genie.

BTW, if circumstances were right, you could also do a tilt with the Intellivision game Astrosmash, and play the original version of the game, an Asteroids clone with the ship always at the center of the screen and the field scrolling around in eight directions. They decided to avoid lawsuits, and locked off that part of the game and just went with the falling meteors.
