But I'm sure you guys will still laugh the next time the south gets shut down by snow.

Stay safe folks, and consider updating your stormwater runoff systems.

Ever since I was a cabdriver there, I've been praying for this to happen.

Only problem is, it'll leave a ring around the ocean...

There is no stormwater runoff system that will protect a barrier island from a major tidal surge. When the ocean meets the bay, that's that.

Clever....

Meanwhile, here in Riverton, across the river from Philly, I had to carry my ADORABLE little Shih Tzus outside to the lee side of the house to get them to wee-wee. Gonna be a long 24 hours...

Why is everyone so worried about this storm that weather.com describes as a category 1 hurricane with top winds of 90 mph.
Seriously, thats nothing.

I just went to Atlantic City for the first time last summer. I was pretty amazed when driving up that it isn't a "shore point" like the other Jersey Shore spots, but an actual city with a skyline.

Parts of it looked nice, but you could tell 99% of that was a good paint job. It was an odd city though. Like an urban Appalachia on the shore. And yes, the crowd was far trashier than anyone I have seen at Seaside.

Visitors to AC seem not to realize how low class it all is, whereas visitors to Seaside are specifically there for the trashiness of it all.

Just a little gallows humor. I have been through too many effing hurricanes, including Wilma as a 40th birthday present. I've spent many a hot, humid night without power, listening to the hum of a dozen neighboring generators. Best of luck to you and the Shih Tzus!

The difference being that up here we don't activly defund our emergency services then go begging to the feds to make up all the defunding we did when an emergency occurs.

Storm runoff is one thing. A 10-foot tidal surge is something different.
