Once they clear away all the built up white stuff, I'm sure the masses will be able to get in and out easily.

I see you don't know what you are talking about. New Orleans survived Katrina relatively fine, it was the subsequent federally maintained levy breaches that really fark'ed em good. A federal judge ruled the Coprs of Engineers responsible for the levy failures but disallowed any laws suits against them due to sovereign immunity. Add the complete and utter incompetence of Bush's "Heck of a Jonb Brownie" FEMA response and you have a prime example of the federal government turning a relatively routine natural disaster into a once in a life time catastrophe.

For the sake of the people on the Eastern seaboard I'm glad we have much more competent people in the executive branch.

So let me get this straight.... the submitter is the one with a problem because he or she doesn't know where Lindsay Lohan lives? Honestly I gotta say that not knowing this information is a better indication of good character than knowing it.

Not to worry, residents of New York: Snake Plissken is currently being briefed by the president and will be en-route shortly.

You really think the people that had to spend a week in the Superbowl, those on the bridges stickin' out of the water, and the disabled left in their homes and drowned, while school busses sank in the flood zone because no one in charge thought to put them together and get them all out, were surviving relatively fine?

The lesson learned in Katrina is that, during an emergency, your government is NOT gonna do a damn thing for you right then. Not in a flood, an earthquake/tsunami, a riot, or any other damned thing. Get your survival kit ready, get to a safe spot, and know the locations of grocery warehouses 'cause the stores will be looted the first day and it's the days after that you need to feed your family in.

I'm not a meteorologist, climatologist, astrologist, civil engineer, landscape artist, or anything else of any relevant merit, but I presume that hurricanes hitting the hurricane prone gulf and southern regions of the atlantic are much more tolerable, naturally, than hurricanes in the northeast. our soil and infrastructure knows what it's like to be inundated with too much water. our people know what it's like to suffer a hurricane. but for a busted levee here or there, or folks beyond a levee protection system (who know they're screwed), we can pretty much take a hurricane. though, I imagine the northeast folk are not accustomed to this amount of water. they don't have the same drainage or infrastructure to get rid of water. so, although they may suffer a less severe storm, the damage could be much more (excepting breached levees).

/ either way, hurricanes are horrible. good luck, I'm not going to make comparisons about new orleans or new york (or the northeast as a whole), because they are different places with different logistical problems facing different storms. everyone gets hit differently. and water is a powerful force. doesn't matter where it shows up, too much is always bad.
// and, rebuild everywhere. fark people who can be so callous about shiat of which they know nothing of places they'll never visit. when whatever disaster comes through your town, I'll say rebuild that too (i'd much rather send tax money to rebuilding some place in america than whatever the hell else my tax money goes to). only someone who lives in a nameless, worthless place could ever suggest abandoning it because of one little blip in history.

Last time I saw her in the news, she was accused of running over someone in NY. You'll get over it.
