Uh - but if you are on Lake Huron, like a good chunk of Michigan happens to be, you will see very high winds and a fair amount of rain. That is, unless our Canadian forecast stops at the St Clair River, or in the middle of Lake Huron?

Why don't you guys just move to a place that doesn't have hurricanes?

I mean, it's not like you have a house or car to unload first.

I'm in Dallas, suckers. We have three months of heat, about of month and a half of really nice weather either side, and a mild winter. And if it snows EVERYONE GETS TO STAY HOME FOR A DAY!

Seriously. Also, I live in Michigan and we don't have much to brag about. It's cold and cloudy and windy as fark (the very western extreme of Sandy). Granted, there's no flooding, but still, we got nothing to gloat over.

Funny, I can camp in beautiful forests, I can hike on great trails. I've got literally hundreds of miles of accessible bike and ATV trails. Good hunting, good fishing, nice people, great fudge, and we actually have seasons.

Sucks hardcore for me, I guess.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Michigan. Especially Traverse City. It doesn't snow that badly here, the summers are awesome, four seasons of sports, and whenever I go downstate for a vacation everyone is coming up here so I don't have to deal with them in their home towns.

Hurricane Sandy is supposed to kick up the lake effect off of Lake Superior due to the 40-45mph northerly winds it's sending our way, which basically means we'll have a typical November gale a few weeks early this year.

It's not like November is a really great time on the Great Lakes anyhow. The Great Lakes Storm of 1913 is just one of many examples.

After you get out of the Detroit area and go somewhat north (like 45 minutes north of 96), people are actually people and not mindless-dickhead-city-folk-who-just-got-a-drivers-license-yesterday-b ecause-they're-either-russian-eastern-indian-or-just-some-jerkoff-self -centered-dumb-fark-in-general. So yeah, all of Michigan gets a bad rap because of how horrifically stupid the Detroit area is.

/I'd be the last person to defend Michigan after moving here for, at the time, my future wife (if that's not love, I don't know what is)

Didn't mean the Russian / Eastern Indian thing as a racist card, more so they aren't used to our driving laws and regulations and, since they've been driving in whatever country they were in last, they drive erratically and with too much confidence.

Also, a better way for me to say the second slashy is:

I never understood the state hate thing. I have been all over the country and met all sorts of people and I've come to the conclusion that its all the same. Not the people, the places. Sure, some places have fairer weather or nicer cities, but they also have crime, dumbasses, and all of the other things people make fun of.

To say you hate an entire state because of whatever reason is just a bit...well...dumb. It also speaks volumes about your own personality.

If you prefer NYC that's cool. The next guy might enjoy hunting and fishing so he lives in the middle of nowhere. Some people like the coast, some the mountains, and some like small towns. Is this really that hard to understand?

Midwest weather blows. We went from like a month where the average temp. was over 100, then 5 or 6 weeks of decent weather, and now it's in the low 50s. 9-10 months out of the year are either too hot or too cold.

Went to a seminar in the Chicago area which just happen to be on a beautiful 70 degree day with a mild breeze blowing. During a break, one of the speakers (from SoCal) comes over to a bunch of us hanging out by the hotel pool and asks "Gee, is it always this nice around here?" I'm sure he was joking as I know he's been here before, but one of the other guys summed it up nicely:

"We get two perfect days here a year. One in the Spring and another in the Fall. This is the Spring one."
