Yes, but you have to be in Michigan. Enjoy the five months of slush. - Signed, the East Coast.

Wtf is headline I don't even reference... what, guy.

2012-10-29 01:07:29 PM
Uh - but if you are on Lake Huron, like a good chunk of Michigan happens to be, you will see very high winds and a fair amount of rain. That is, unless our Canadian forecast stops at the St Clair River, or in the middle of Lake Huron?

/My wife is in Wisconsin and supposed to be driving home tomorrow. I think not.

2012-10-29 01:07:30 PM
All the shiat people talked about New Orleans after Katrina. Good luck East Coast.

33 foot waves forecast for Lake Michigan!

2012-10-29 01:07:47 PM
Why don't you guys just move to a place that doesn't have hurricanes?

I mean, it's not like you have a house or car to unload first.

2012-10-29 01:07:58 PM
I'm in Dallas, suckers. We have three months of heat, about of month and a half of really nice weather either side, and a mild winter. And if it snows EVERYONE GETS TO STAY HOME FOR A DAY!

Looking forward to it, thanks!

Seriously. Also, I live in Michigan and we don't have much to brag about. It's cold and cloudy and windy as fark (the very western extreme of Sandy). Granted, there's no flooding, but still, we got nothing to gloat over.

2012-10-29 01:11:35 PM
Dear Michigan. You're still Michigan. Sucks to be you guys. Signed, the rest of the country.

Detroit's supposed to get 50mph winds.

2012-10-29 01:13:15 PM
mark my words, the truth will come out. Sandy was an inside job.

Funny, I can camp in beautiful forests, I can hike on great trails. I've got literally hundreds of miles of accessible bike and ATV trails. Good hunting, good fishing, nice people, great fudge, and we actually have seasons.

Sucks hardcore for me, I guess.

Near Michigan - nice job in the World Series. Ha!

I like how the coasts think they're the only ones that have that. Seriously, it's amusing.

High winds and rain? On the Great Lakes? What else is new.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Michigan. Especially Traverse City. It doesn't snow that badly here, the summers are awesome, four seasons of sports, and whenever I go downstate for a vacation everyone is coming up here so I don't have to deal with them in their home towns.

Hurricane vs. a tornado. 3 days of terror or 10 minutes of "holy fark we're all going to die."

I need to get out of WI.

2012-10-29 01:21:43 PM
I'd bet my left nut there is something in the water in Ann Arbor.

Lake Michigan is supposed to have high winds, as well.

1) touching downed power lines. (this should be avoidable)
2) heat exhaustion or medical problems after the storm passes
3) way too much water (like you said, should have evacuated - but running from a storm is hard when you're poor. I did it once right when I changed banks, had a hold on the money, and didn't realize my credit card had expired. had almost no money for a couple days. miserable evacuation.)

Yeah man... but... like... that's at least a few days to find some other dude at your job (regardless of what it is) and pool some resources.

Hurricane Sandy is supposed to kick up the lake effect off of Lake Superior due to the 40-45mph northerly winds it's sending our way, which basically means we'll have a typical November gale a few weeks early this year.

2012-10-29 01:37:19 PM
Dear Sandy,

Please clean up the Jersey Shore.

Thanks.

2012-10-29 01:38:24 PM
today I learned that all of Michigan is just like the southern/south eastern half of the lower peninsula.

2012-10-29 01:42:22 PM
At least they don't have to worry about bats in Detroit.

Detroit's rep is a ruse, so you don't find out about our Sampo.

...i've said too much...

*Cue the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald*

It's not like November is a really great time on the Great Lakes anyhow. The Great Lakes Storm of 1913 is just one of many examples.

That's when good ships and true are bones to be chewed.

2012-10-29 01:46:42 PM
Where you drunk when you came up with that headline, subtard?

2012-10-29 01:47:07 PM
After you get out of the Detroit area and go somewhat north (like 45 minutes north of 96), people are actually people and not mindless-dickhead-city-folk-who-just-got-a-drivers-license-yesterday-b ecause-they're-either-russian-eastern-indian-or-just-some-jerkoff-self -centered-dumb-fark-in-general. So yeah, all of Michigan gets a bad rap because of how horrifically stupid the Detroit area is.

/I'd be the last person to defend Michigan after moving here for, at the time, my future wife (if that's not love, I don't know what is)
//#1 thing people like to talk about and advertise here is Michigan or Michigan sports. If they can fit "Michigan" into it, they will.
///just telling it like it is.

You might consider keeping the lake freighters in port this week. Superior, they said, never gives up her dead when the gales of November come early.

/self-induced earworm - dammit!

Take two:

Didn't mean the Russian / Eastern Indian thing as a racist card, more so they aren't used to our driving laws and regulations and, since they've been driving in whatever country they were in last, they drive erratically and with too much confidence.

Also, a better way for me to say the second slashy is:

There is never a waking moment where Michigan will forget to remind you that you are inside of Michigan.
