(NYPost)   Current TV has put itself up for sale. Ratings have been so bad, even NBC is sending a sympathy card   (nypost.com) divider line 24

You do realize that NBC is number one in the ratings this Fall season, right subby?

Would have been better to namecheck ABC, except that I'm not sure anyone even remembers that ABC still exists. Hell, I watch more shows on the CW ("Arrow" rocks) than ABC.

I think I could scrape together $5000 to buy it.

Drew should buy it for Fark TV.

It's almost as though a bunch of TV shows featuring annoying hosts shot from the knees up standing in front of a wall while yelling at the camera and gesturing wildly aren't in high demand.

I will give Al a new version of PowerPoint, plant 3 trees and buy 2 interwebs in exchange for it.

I don't mind current tv. I like that they air documentaries. I don't like that they air the same documentaries over and over and over again

I have that channel on Dish Network. 12¢ per subscriber? Yeah, it's a good estimate of its worth.

Have some Current employees (and ex-employees) on my Facebook list. To hear them tell it, it's been a long, slow descent into hell. They started out fresh, fire in the bellies, with enough of a budget to get what they wanted to do done. And then the money started drying up and a few corners has to be cut. Then a few more. Then a few more. Then Rupert Murdoch started muscle-flexing on them to get them taken off the air in international markets (being yanked in Italy looks to have particularly stung).

And then Keith Olbermann's hiring was announced. Time to get the hell out of Dodge, though they were getting ready to do so anyway the way the trajectory was going. The ones that remained basically had to alter their subject matter to meet Olbermann's whims while he was there. What's left of the budget is pretty clearly seen on the screen.

Current's eventual legacy ought to be 'developmental ball for some very talented journalists' (seriously, look up Mariana van Zeller's work), but it's going to be 'that network Gore couldn't make work and Olbermann killed'.

I maintain that these specialized networks need a solid vision going in and a bevy of ideas for cheaply produced niche shows that cater to the intended demo. Once they start betraying that demo it's over, you lose your core audience and you might as well turn into the cops, wrestling, and best of TVs bloopers and practical jokes network.

Americans don't care about a commie TV channel that spews lies.

Maybe thats why MSNBC ratings are in the shiatter too?

They need a Honey Boo Boo show to boost ratings>

Something with the Gores ala Ozzie Osbourne show followed by camera crew.

Tipper adjusting to wellness and checking off rehab.

Gore jr. complaining about his dad's expectations and burning a blunt behind the mansion sea wall .
The daughter ?
The there Al as the Ozzie . Counting the money and prepping for speech to a bunch of fans. Just torturing the family with his hockey stick charts and ranting on ..and on.

"tipper who moved my academy award ?"

Cut to Jr. blowing a cloud of smoke on the Oscar in the backseat of the Suburban .
