Are 1 through 10 all "Home"? Because they should be.

2012-10-29 09:37:02 AM
I agree with #1. I still can't use port-a-johns thanks to that one.

2012-10-29 09:41:49 AM
I expected to see "Home" at #1, but "The Host" is still a good choice. Would have liked to have seen "Darkness Falls" on that list. Imagining those bugs all over me made my skin crawl.

Hey! How about a spoiler warning? Jeez.

God Is My Co-Pirate: Are 1 through 10 all "Home"? Because they should be.

Exactly this. And wasn't even #1.

I still get the creeps when I hear Johnny Mathis' "Wonderful!"

Yeah... that episode still gives me the jibblies.

/Oh, there they go again.

While its not the creepiest, my favorite is the alien who just wanted to play baseball.

Yup.

This and Folie a Deux still give me nightmares.

2012-10-29 10:23:11 AM
That's actually a pretty good list. I almost didn't click on the link because I knew "Home" would be on it. My brain will be replaying that all day for me now.

2012-10-29 10:25:04 AM
Good to see Unruhe on there. While Home and Leonard Betts were probably the creepiest episodes, Unruhe has to be my favourite.

2012-10-29 10:26:03 AM
I worked at a mall in a kiosk that was in the level above a video store that heavily featured each season as it was released. I hear the theme song in my sleep.

"Our Town" always stuck with me. The images of the fox fire, and the mask, just creep the crap out of me.

I could see it being shot in a much darker, creepier way, but it worked.

2012-10-29 10:32:01 AM
Die Vierland was probably the scariest thing on TV. When the witch had her wrist on the candle and opened her snake eyes, I had the booboo jeebies..images2.wikia.nocookie.net

Is it weird that when I read the headline, the Unsolved Mysteries theme song popped into my head, instead of the X-Files?

Cndn Bacon: Is it weird that when I read the headline, the Unsolved Mysteries theme song popped into my head, instead of the X-Files?

Not at all. Unsolved Mysteries used to be farking creepy. It was even scarier than X-Files because it just might be true.

2012-10-29 10:48:01 AM
I miss this show so damn much.

Can't wait for a reboot, and hope its ST:TNG level of quality, but it probably won't be unless it's on AMC, or other cable channel.

2012-10-29 10:48:57 AM
My favorite was always the one with the circus freaks.

There was one where a ghost was killing people in a retirement home. Don't remember the name but it was creepy as shiat

2012-10-29 10:53:04 AM
Home should have been #1. I still can't hear any Johnny Mathis music of any kind without shivering.

2012-10-29 10:53:18 AM
I was on a film set shortly after #10 (Badlaa) aired, and when Deep Roy walked by I got some serious heebie jeebies. Thankfully, he did not climb up my anus.

The exact same thing happened to me. I heard the Unsolved Mysteries theme right away.

I figured it would be The Host. I think the way that one ends pushes it to the front. But that's just me.

They can't reboot unless they go back to X files in the 60s or 70s. The world ends on 12-21-12 in the series according to the last episode.

/an episode set in the 70s where they follow reports of a man who turns green when he gets mad that are pccuring all over the country would be pretty cool.

Checked to make sure "Irresistable" and "Home" were on the list. Leaving satisfied.

2012-10-29 11:24:04 AM
I had the misfortune of watching "Home" the first time it was broadcast.

I thereafter absolutely refused to ever watch the X-Files again. And it's taken years to be able to listen to Johnny Mathis' voice without cringing.

2012-10-29 11:31:22 AM
Not a bad list, but Home should be #1. I actually thought the one about the chicken manufacturing plant that was giving people a brain disease was pretty creepy. The ending of that one was pretty awesome.

2012-10-29 11:32:21 AM
I loved the lyrics to the theme song:

The X-Files is a show/
with music by Mark Snow/
(repeat)

2012-10-29 11:35:02 AM
To this day, I can still creep my wife out by quoting "I'm ready" in a gravely voice.

That's why 'Home' should be #1.

2012-10-29 11:41:46 AM
X-Files still holds up. Did a complete run-through of it... except for season 9. Season 9 was shiat and I gave up 2 episodes in. Just went to the finale.)

Season 8 is iffy, the first season with Doggett is awesome and totally underrated.

Yeah, agreed. There was some episode of Unsolved Mysteries about this UFO that showed upon at a military base in England that to this *day* gives me the willies.

The Host fails at being creepy because of the Man In A Rubber Suit aspect, but it's a good MythArc episode because it introduces Mister X and all the "Reinstatement of the X-Files must be undeniable." stuff.

I found the episode "Ice", with the brain-worms, way creepier. That kind of shiat, bugs under your skin, always messes with my head. The episode "F.Emasculata" (the one about mass panics and cockroaches), while clearly a "comedy episode," still manages to freak me out for the same reason.

Also, list kinda fails without "Blood." God that episode gets me every time.

csb: My mom refused to watch X-Files for several years, but after hearing me constantly going on about how great it was, she decided to check it out. The first and last and only episode she ever saw? Home. /csb

Please.

A show that deals with the supernatural and extraterrestrial should have no problem at all devising a way around that date. Alternate timeline/universe, etc.

Not to mention they could set it between 2000-2012.

Only if they replace AD Skinner with AD Scully.

Did they ever show "Home" again after it first aired? I remember seeing it the first time, but I never see it in repeats. Too squicky for TV?

I believe they did on SyFy, which at the time was SciFi.

The alternate u/ timeline is too Startrek/gate and the fanbase would not want to feel pandered to. I personally think dealing with the supernatural in the cold war period would be much better, as they can have more international intrigue and old timers struggling to deal with the suddenly modern world.

/unfortunatly there is no way to have a sci fi reboot without the fans whining on the internet.

The one with the cockroaches.

I expected that one too.

My gf's lab had an issue with cockroaches last year. She wasn't too thrilled when we watched that episode.

I was 10 when I saw the original airing of Jose Chung's From Outer Space and it freaked the hell out of me. It wasn't until I rewatched it a few years later that I realised it was essentially a comedy / Twin Peaks tribute.

"Excelsius Dei", I think. Very creepy. As was the episode where the wounded soldier could astrally project his soul and killed people ("Walk"?).

it will always be chinga for me. that shiat makes me shiver to this day.

/i think the episode was written by stephen king

Not so much a commentary on The X-Files, as I only really watched a few episodes (including the one with the guy who was a video gamer and kills with lightning).

But.

Topless Robot...I'm pretty sure I'll never go back to that website because I'm pretty sure it gave me a virus that caused BSOD reboots over and over unless I booted in safemode.

Had to reformat my hard drive because of it.

Anybody else gotten any warning signs / complaints about Topless Robot?

No. We all have computers made this millenium or know how to get free anti-virus.

I suggest you look into getting both.

At least you're in the right mood. I've got Dr Who stuck in my head.
