(Salon)   So, just how bad would a Romney administration be? According to Salon, it would be a disaster of biblical proportions. Old Testament, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling   (salon.com ) divider line

Be afraid... and vote Obama.

2012-10-29 08:38:35 AM
The economy might recover under him, but there's a good chance it may go REALLY wrong. Meanwhile, Obama will keep things slowly improving. The deficit might go down, but the overwhelming likelihood is that the deficit will go way up under Romney. Under Obama, it will stay about the same.

I guess given Mitt Romney has a VERY questionable and vague plan and it has a high likelihood of going very wrong for America but not guaranteed, I would call people who vote for Romney gamblers. No, really. They have no real expectation that Romney will be better than Obama, and may very well be far worse, but there is a slight chance that he will be better, and they are willing to bet the country on that. The choice to vote for Romney is so completely irrational, it's the best fit explanation to why people vote for him (apart from the Racists).

From back in 2008: consequences of an Obama victory:

-Churches that refuse to perform same-sex marriages would lose their tax-exempt status

-"under God" in the Pledge would be declared unconstitutional

-Doctors and nurses who won't perform abortions will no longer be able to deliver babies

-Pornography would be openly displayed on newsstands

-Inner-city crime increases when gun ownership is restricted

-Homeschooling would become restricted, so thousands of homeschooling parents emigrate to other countries such as Australia and New Zealand.

- "Since 2009, terrorist bombs have exploded in two large and two small U.S. cities, killing hundreds, and the entire country is fearful, for no place seems safe."

-Euthanasia is becoming more and more common.

-New carbon emission standards drive many coal-powered electric plants out of business. "The country has less total electric power available than in 2008, and periodic blackouts to conserve energy occur on a regular schedule throughout the nation."

We know what would happen to the economy because they tried it in the UK.

It put them into a second recession.

Still better than a Nobama presidency!!! Just the other day I hit a red light and tried to edge my car up in a way so no one was next to me so I could pick my nose. This car to the right edged up every time I did and prevented me from inconspicuously picking my nose. Thanks a lot, Schmobama!

I think it would be a disaster. Removal of regulations and safety nets, massive spending on defense and a new war, lower revenues meaning higher debt, and massive 'morals laws' movements to disenfranchise or oppress many minorities, women, and homosexuals.

Not a prety picture over all. I think it would be Bush X 3.

I just sort of skimmed the article, so I didn't see this mentioned, but remember, if Romney wins, Paul Ryan is a 65 year old man's heart beat away from the Oval Office.

It's hard to see a worse-case scenario then that.

Yeah, what's worse - a competent career politician who makes gaffes (i.e. doesn't lie all the time), or the male Sarah Palin who people think is smart because he's got papers with a bunch of made-up numbers in them.

I really for the life of me cannot comprehend why anyone in their right mind would vote for the incumbent. I guess most folks are really "out of it", or just plain stupid, and are mesmerized by him. I have asked several people I know, why they would vote for him again, and have never gotten a straight answer. It is especially disturbing to me the answers college students give as to why they would vote for him. I always thought people in college were "smart". But I find that not to be the case.

If he does happen to get re-elected, and his so called "healthcare" reform kicks in, there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth. Hint: You won't get "free healthcare", like Canada.

There was a part in there about how Scalia had to resign because he was in poor health. If only, if only....

It would definitely be harmful, but Democrats seem to have good odds in positions outside of the president so he'd be a little bit limited at least.

Now a full Republican government majority including the president? Mormon God help us, Mormon God help us all.

That's true. No one victor can change everything. But what we've seen in recent history is what one victor can pull off when presented with an extraordinary circumstance as with Bush.

I'm not going to get into a thesis over this, but I think Bush's main problem was his staff and the influence of Cheney on both. When Bush led on his own - comprehensive immigration reform, for example - he could be OK.

With Romney we have a dual problem. His staffing decisions are cause for real concern. And he's worst when he uses his personal judgement. Double threat.
