Elegy: Sargun: kingdd: Sargun is from New Orleans. He's trolling. We get it. He's very clever.

Trolling =/= being sarcastic. I have family and friends in the way of this thing, I just find it funny how unprepared some people are and the hypocrisy of how we're about the only people who get told this shiat by everybody year in and year out.

Yeah, some of these northeast folk seem kinda touchy when the shoe is on the other foot.

I have gas for the generator and ammo for my shotgun. If I need more food I'll just go through the neighborhood.

Pretty much nothing but a lot of rain. The only interesting things in the picture are the tree trunks l still haven't cut up from the derecho.

What worries me would be if this storm did an Agnes... Just sort of parked itself over central PA for 2 weeks and tried to pump the Atlantic dry by emptying it over PA and neighboring states.

You know, I was just wondering yesterday why the Mexican stations don't send out weather chicks to cover hurricanes in tshirts. They are pretty shameless about ramping up the sexy in weather forcasting, and they get tropical storms pretty much every year somewhere on the Yukatan.

Earguy: So I guess we're rolling out a new thread for the morning. Good morning all!

Two miles inland from Atlantic City. Still just wind and rain here, no loss of electricity or even satellite TV reception. Reports of barrier islands (Atlantic City, Ventor, Margate, Ocean City, etc.) flooding. Atlantic City tidal gauge: Tide height should be 4.75 feet. Actual height: 8.15 feet. Storm surge of about 3.5 feet.

Ocean City NJ this morning;

Things still look OK over at Shore Hospital. Just had a baby about 25 hours ago. Parked on the 3rd floor so the car should be fine.

// That's about 1000 feet from the bay, for everyone else.

marius2: FaygoMaster: marius2: While I hope you stay dry, I have to ask how the roads are looking in Nawfolk. I'm hoping they close ODU tomorrow as well, I have zero desire to take a Latin test....

Well, the street in front of my house (about 1-1/2 miles north of ODU) is a lake, but I haven't heard about Hampton Blvd or the midtown tunnel, which sounded as though it had been intermittently available. The reports I'm hearing is that downtown is a mess as it always is when it floods. I just received a student announcement from ODU stating that they were going to make a decision about the University's operational status later today.

Thanks, stay safe!

Luthien's Tempest:

Yeah, it didn't look so bad here in Hampton when I peaked out my window about 45 minutes ago, but it seems to be picking up now. I'm an idiot for not taking my dog out sooner. :/

Me too. My dog was giving me the look of "Hah, that's all it was?" until about half an hour ago when it changed to "Hey, I'm gonna make sure that everything is safe under the table."

My dog is not going to be amused when I go to take him out. Doesn't help that he hates his rain jacket anyway, lol. (I torture my dog, clearly).

Part of me hopes HU is closed tomorrow, too... Except I have a test Thursday in my dynamics class and the professor still hasn't given us the notes upon which that test is based. Damn miserable catch-22.

this is an example of how cynical he is. He's betting the response to this storm will be Obama's Katrina and he's out in front of it so that if things are bad he can exploit them.

dennysgod: Girion47: tinfoil-hat maggie: dennysgod: Well that didn't take long:

The president canceled his campaign trips Monday and Tuesday to the swing states of Florida and Colorado, far beyond the reach of Hurricane Sandy. His people say the president needs to stay home and monitor things, which one Republican found interesting.

"You notice that he's canceling his trips over the hurricane. He didn't cancel his trips over Benghazi," former GOP presidential candidate and ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on ABC's "This Week."

/That was from an article from CNN

How about we don't do politics for a bit, I know it's a bit much to ask but....well.
