No, just pointing out that there's already a huge ongoing discussion thread on the main page. It will probably exceed 1,000 within a few hours.

And I'm sorry if you feel that way, but that wasn't my intent.

So I guess we're rolling out a new thread for the morning. Good morning all!

Two miles inland from Atlantic City. Still just wind and rain here, no loss of electricity or even satellite TV reception. Reports of barrier islands (Atlantic City, Ventor, Margate, Ocean City, etc.) flooding. Atlantic City tidal gauge: Tide height should be 4.75 feet. Actual height: 8.15 feet. Storm surge of about 3.5 feet.

Also from Facebook this morning:

Captured the shot on the left from the live OC cam feeds 2 hrs ago at 3rd St., ocean breaching the sand berm. Captured the same spot (on the right) 10 min ago, no berm left. Nothing but ocean...and a crazy person out there in it! If ppl are going to be foolish and stay, at least don't pull stunts like this. Sheesh!

You know, as a long time gulf coast resident, I am usually overcome with glee when the east coast is hit by a hurricane.

Promptly followed by mucho sadness when I realize that you farkers will get to take the day off and drink, while I'm stuck at work.

Stay thirsty (and safe), my friends.

WOOHOO, I wonder how the house I sold back in February is going to hold up to this. It won't get flooding but there are a ton of very large trees around it.

It's pretty damn calm here still in Chesapeake, VA. Apparently the storm will hit us again tonight, but it just looks like a crappy day out. No rain, not much wind. Apparently some near historic flooding though.

Given that the Internet is a system that was specifically designed to automatically reroute traffic if a network node is disabled, I imagine life will continue. It might impact your stream of Gangnam Style.

Hi from third street in Philly. I think it's raining out. I haven't checked yet.

It's just a little wind and rain... Sheesh. Between Ike, Rita, Katrina the Gulf Coast says... Just desserts. All this panicking over a Cat 1. Muahahahahah.

Looks like Rove's Hurricane Machine is back online.

You want an impressive storm? Go look at Gilbert.

Two miles inland from Atlantic City. Barrier islands already getting hammered.

As for me, my lawn is squooshy from the overnight soaking rain, we've had winds 35mph.

Jim has left Battery Park, Stephanie has taken his place. Have not seen Jim on the WC yet. He's probably heading toward the Jersey shore or inland to the blizzard.

Yeah, I've been having that lately, too. Slept 3 hours or so on Monday night, didn't get to sleep again until 11 or so on Wednesday, and then only slept for an hour or so. I have these nights where I've taken so many pain killers, muscle relaxers, sleeping meds and beer that I should be dead, instead I'm just awake. Hell, I got 3 hours last night and may be up for the day now.

I like the '$20 says I'm drunker than you' part, that made me LOL. Now to see if I can get back to sleep...

/yeah it's a 7 year old joke. I've got nothing this Monday morning.
